Waiver disapproval through BUMED but continuing on...

Hi folks, I've made a couple of posts over the last few years regarding my son's continued efforts to serve in uniform. In summary: Fall 2019-Fall 2020 - Enrolled AROTC while in his first and (start of) second years in college; DoDMERB cleared after much documentation due to past sports...

    Reporting COVID to DoDMERB

Some additional words of experience; if time is of the essence, you will want to stay on top of the process after submitting the evaluation from the private physician. My son is needing a single condition waiver for USMC PLC and that process could not be started until the COVID eval was...

DoDMERB in progress / Recruiter pushing for MEPS

    Good info, thanks!

DoDMERB in progress / Recruiter pushing for MEPS

Got it, and thank you for that! I guess my fear, based on other stories I've read, is that he could be dismissed at MEPS before ever having the opportunity to apply for a waiver for a specific condition if the doctor that reviews his packet determines there are factors that exist that he/she...

DoDMERB in progress / Recruiter pushing for MEPS

I've been reluctant to post this out here because a) I'm a parent and am trying to let my son run his process, and b) I wanted to ensure I was armed with all of the "official" information possible before reaching out. I've posted about my son's situation in other forums but this one is specific...

Staying the course to contract via ROTC

I'm assuming you're talking about national scholarships coming through by 11/15 and not college campus-based so correct me if I'm wrong. A bit of a departure from the initial topic/questions of the thread. :)

Staying the course to contract via ROTC

Yeah spring is really what I was looking for. I figured fall was over and done. Thanks!

Staying the course to contract via ROTC

I realize all programs are different but I was wondering if you expect the six scholarships you're in a holding pattern on to come through? I'd like to be able to give some ray of hope to my son even if it's from another program. Thanks!

Staying the course to contract via ROTC

Thanks so much for that insight! The thought of a cheaper school has crossed his/our minds and it might come to that if this doesn't come through in the spring. He's very likely going to serve, one way or another. He is committed to that idea and has a vision of what it looks like down the line...

Staying the course to contract via ROTC

Hi franknd and thanks for the feedback. And here I thought I provided more info than anyone would actually read! 1) He didn't really get much feedback on why he did not receive a 3-year scholarship. What I can tell you though is that the moral waiver may have delayed things and/or COVID hit...

Staying the course to contract via ROTC

Hi folks, such a wealth of information and experience on these forums! I've posted once, about a year ago, about my son's situation with his AROTC college scholarship application process, as an incoming first-year student, and didn't get any responses. No big deal as it may just be that nobody...

    3-year ROTC scholarship process

Hi all, I've lurked here for a while and am amazed at the wealth of information to be had. My son has been interested in U.S. military service for quite some time but only earlier this year did it really start to come to a head. Unfortunately, the deadline for college scholarship opportunities...
