All great advice so far. No one has mentioned the possibility of cross commissioning upon graduation. It's my understanding that could be an option. If you wound up at West Point, but still ultimately wanted a post-grad career in the Navy, you may be able to cross commission.

My son is at the Academy now and he is still 17 years old. He is one of the youngest that he has met so far in his class, but he's dealt with that his entire school career. Go for it!

You should receive an official letter in your USAFA portal that congratulates you on becoming a candidate for admission. I would think sending a copy of that letter into your Senator would suffice. Good Luck!
