    Re-look

Admissions did put my son's file before the board a second time (after he had been turned down medically), but we only found this out later after calling admissions and scheduling an appointment to talk about his file and chances for a successful re-application. We were told this was very rare...

USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Because of all this and his waiver requirements DS didn't get a nomination this year, and got turned down in the first wave of TWE's (as we anticipated). Your DS still has hope, so don't give up! BUT... I will say that the process of making himself competitive for USNA has opened up a lot of...

USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Last year NC came in low and late reporting. This year from our district alone there were multiple recruited athletes and NAPS students in the nomination pool, a much larger amount than you would think for a small-ish district. I feel like it's kind of been an unusually brutal year for NC...

USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

I don't know that this is a fair assessment. DS was DQ'd for color blindness only, a genetic variation he has no control over and is extremely competitive to waiver. He is not less physically capable and actually won a state football championship during his junior year. CFA was easily passed...

    Re-Applicant Process

My DS got this notice today as well, I don't know if it helps ease any disappointment...but you weren't the only one! Sounds like you have a great option with Marine-NROTC though! Congratulations on that!

    Color Vision Waiver

We had talked through the possibility of him applying to the other academies/services as well, but once he established that working on ships (especially nuclear ships) was where his interests were it didn't make sense to move forward with it. Especially once he got on campus for his first...

    Color Vision Waiver

    Again, thanks for sharing.

    Color Vision Waiver

Thanks for passing this along, it's a very interesting program and I will definitely share the information with him. He had called to inquire about the NUPOC program as well, but when he asked if they would accept color blind applicants they pretty much hung up the phone on him! Since this is...

    Color Vision Waiver

Annnddd....DS just got a "turned down" notice in his portal now. Not even a medical turn down this time, so it looks like they probably didn't end up processing the waiver? Anyhow, needing a color blind waiver and a nomination was probably just too big of an ask. He has already been working on...

    Color Vision Waiver

That's a helpful breakdown of the situation.

    Color Vision Waiver

Good to know since you've already been successfully through this process. We were able to talk through his admission file from the last cycle over the phone with a counselor in the summer who told us that the week after his medical turn down was posted they actually put his case I front of the...

    Color Vision Waiver

We are waiting on the color blind waiver as well. DS is a re-applicant and they put him back into "under waiver review" back in July after his medical turn down in the third week of March last year. We are not sure if the actual waiver process has been initiated though since USNA doesn't notify.

Multiple charges in one year to MOC?

So incredibly sensible!!! They should have you run a training for all the congressional staffers charged with organizing the interview panels.

Multiple charges in one year to MOC?

Fair...that's a good point. Our MOC wouldn't give my re-applicant son a nomination this year (although she did last year plus one to West Point he didn't even ask for...and I know...we don't know what the applicant pool looks like this year) because he needs a waiver for colorblindness (the...

Multiple charges in one year to MOC?

After our experience with the nomination process this year, if DS ends up getting an appointment after all I don't know that I would want our MOC to take credit for him (I'm being funny but also serious...). If an applicant knows they were turned down for a nomination by an MOC but they get...
