    NROTC Marine Option

"kinnem;310948]You sound much like my son in terms of your desire. 1. Scoutmaster is not eligible. They dictate (as I recall) Math, English, and Coach (or maybe its one other teacher besides a coach)." I just checked my son's application and he used his Scoutmaster as one of his...

NROTC Scholarship status website change - different process

Try going through here: http://www.nrotc.navy.mil/apply.aspx Select "Check Status of Application" and then "2013" before you input your SSN and DOB.

    NROTC Transfer

My understanding is that the DS was awarded a scholarship to attend OD. For some reason, he does not want to attend OD. He does have the option to request a change of schools. Perhaps my argument is too obvious. What I indicated was that each school has an allocation and that does not change...

    NROTC Transfer

My understanding is that each school has an allocation of scholarships. If school A has 10 and School B has 10, just because your DS wants to go to school B, doesn't mean that school A must give the scholarship up. School B must have a scholarship available and be willing to accept your DS...

    NROTC Transfer

My understanding is that the navy scholarship stays with the school, not the applicant. You cannot transfer something that is not yours. It may not be too late to withdraw the ED application to Tech. That may be your best bet right now if your DS wants to keep his NROTC scholarship.

    October NROTC Board

Congrats! Was VMI his first choice school? If not, what was his first choice? Has he done the "spend the night with the rats" thing at VMI? If so, how did he like it? If not, does he plan to do so? Any other options still in the mix (USNA, etc.) or did he decide to go with the NROTC...

    NROTC 2013 students / parents

My understanding is that once you have submitted five or more of the nine "Required Application Documents" in your USNA application, DODMERB will contact you to schedule the exam. You may be able to determine who requested the exam (USNA versus NROTC) by logging into the DODMERB website, setting...

    NROTC 2013 students / parents

Right now your best friend is your Navy recruiter. He/she can move mountains in this process. My experience with the "items waiting to be processed" status means that they (Pensacola) has not received the specific item of input. Had a couple of these where the counselor/teacher could not get...

    NROTC 2013 students / parents

I recently found this summary on the NROTC Scholarship process on the NC State website. I only wish that I would have seen it earlier as its the best summary of what my DS has gone through to date in the application process. Here is the jump...

    NROTC 2013 students / parents

It appeared to me that this thread was tracking the status of applications. Seems a little late to be talking about schools although it seemed to me that was where this thread was going. If that was what the thread was for, I suggest that the decision be made quickly as your DS or DD's...

    NROTC 2013 students / parents

"to see where everyone else was in the process, and what their status is" At least, that was what I thought it was. Correct me if I am wrong. The board appears to be moving out on the current applications. The thread I referenced, may provide some insight on what you are hearing (or not...

    NROTC 2013 students / parents

Getting back "on topic," it looks like the board met the last week in August and made their decisions on the first batch of applicants. If you have a "Selection Status" line on your application status and its blank, it may be good news. This 2009 Service Academy Forum thread seems to have...
