my son's cell phone rang this morning and I almost went into cardiac arrest... unfortunately, it was one of his friends trying to convince him to break the quarantine and go fishing because the Stripers are coming in! UGH!! Still nothing in Bears Den... I figure it's going to be a letter...

Thank you Objee.. the flickering candle of hope is still lit in our household! Either way, it has been an amazing experience and as a parent, I appreciate everything that has been done for us while we navigate this rollercoaster ride!

Agree with you 100%... tell my kids all the time.. God's got a plan... we are just along for the ride.. easy to say at my age, not so easy to accept as an 18 year old. Best of luck to all... where ever the future leads them!

quick question from someone still waiting - did the coach call you with your acceptance, or did the AO call first? Also, had you been in contact with the coach who retired previously? Unfortunately, my son didnt' apply until January, and the other coach was already gone.

Compared to his other "plan B" schools, WPI and Catholic U, Mass Maritime is a bargain, plus they gave a decent scholarship... I guess in my mind Mass Maritime might be quasi-coast guard, and if he re-applies to USCGA, maybe it would look better trying to transfer in with some military-ish...

My son was accepted at Mass Maritime... still praying he gets into USCGA! but if USCGA is a 'no', would it make any sense for him to do a year there, then reapply?
