    Prior E storage...

Looking for advice on what priors have done with most of their stuff while at the academy. I'm certain I would end up selling my car, but I have a lot of stuff. Have most of you sold/trashed all you owed besides a few boxes? I think a storage unit in CO would end up being most reasonable, I...

    Parents Weekend

I'm confused too, it looks like her older sister might be sharing the account too?

    AFA wifi service?

In the enlisted dorms wifi is much more expensive per Boingo has been at three of the bases I've lived in the dorms as enlisted, same high prices (although enlisted make more than cadets so it isn't as large percentage of income)

    Likelyhood to get on subs?

My brother is coming up on crossroads in life, and I know he will be successful in whatever way he goes. He wants to be on subs and is thinking of enlisting instead of going to the naval academy as the recruiter can garuntee him the rate. If anyone has any info that would be awesome, all I've...

Have any sergeants attended the Air Force academy?

Thanks for the ending, that's probably more realistic. Do you know if the same would be true for major or can you generally retire as a major? I was thinking with 6 year contract, btz winner, and a very good score for staff, they might have a line number high enough to become it for a couple...

Have any sergeants attended the Air Force academy?

I was doing the math and although highly unlikely, it could happen if the age is right starting enlisted career. I'm sure it's more likely for SrA with a line number for staff to attend the academy. Anyone have knowledge of any staffs that have attended? (I just thought it would be interesting...

    Battlefield Airmen Club

Not sure if you're referring to the hopefuls or the ones that passed selection. Either way pretty secretive from what I've heard. Sorry can't be more help.

    Being gay in USAFA

Big blue tells everyone to be accepting or else risk running the risk of severe disciplinary action to include jail time. I would recommend talking as much about your preferences as the other cadets do, which hopefully isn't much. Homosexuality is a lot more common than even ten years ago...

STO training out of academy, or during?

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge with me! Are you able to say, apply for a pilot slot before you/concurrently with selection? Obviously would rather take sto if selected although like you all shared there are very limited slots.

STO training out of academy, or during?

I read on this forum that the training takes an extreme amount of time away from and training is mostly secretive. The thread was from years ago, were they referring to time as a cadet or the pipeline after? Do they train/weed you out during the four years at the academy, or do you just put it...

Is the majcom distribution of academy appointments public?

And if so, are the number of those slots that are used also public? I know it's 85 overall, but wanted to know if it was distributed evenly, or relative to size. Thanks if you have any knowledge on the subject, I'm very curious!

    USAFA Flying Team

Thanks for making this thread! Definitely highlights something I've known occurs at the academy but didn't know really anything about. What type of things are covered in ground training? Is it just mission planning and systems knowledge? Are there classes and such or a GT guide on what...

    No more Principal Nominations.

Don't get me wrong, appointments and nominations shape the future of our military. But if you don't trust a congressman to make honest decisions with nominations, then how can you let them represent your district in capitol hill!

    congressman want 50 word statement.

I would start by making bullet points of every possible reason you have for wanting to attend, including the 'bad' or 'selfish' reasons too, and then rank them in highest importance to least. After that, decide which ones you absolutely must share, and share them in such a way that make you unique.

    Nomination Essay -- Senator Feinstein

Reading the previous posters' messages, I have to agree. I was given advice when I previously applied, and received a nomination so I'll share that. My first draft had a similar intro, about how I heard about the academy, why I wanted to go, etc. A teacher of mine sat down with me and we...
