    Prep School VS University

My personal honest opinion: if you're going to a prep school with Falcon Foundation, take it. You'll get into the Academy unless there's fatal error on your part. If you don't have Falcon Foundation, go to a university. I haven't observed any advantage to self-prepping (most of them get the same...

AIM program or USAFA Summer Seminar?

I've been to both summer programs and got accepted into both academies. If you can go to both, go to both, but if you have to choose between one or the other, I suggest AIM. AIM is much more closer to what the actual basic training experience is like. About half your time spent at AIM is Swab...

    Falcon Foundation Scholarship

I'm a Falcon this year as well. You do get to choose your prep school. There are eight options, four being non-military, four being military. I chose the cheapest military option and applied for financial aid; I didn't have to pay anything. Im actually coming out with a surplus considering that...

    Cornell NROTC

I was not accepted into Cornell. I apologize if my information is wrong, but that's what I was told by my NROTC recruiters and I also had zero problems transferring my scholarship to less selective schools after not being accepted. I can relate to your situation between choosing ROTC and a...

    Cornell NROTC

I was awarded an NROTC scholarship to Cornell last year. The admissions process is independent of any ROTC, so it won't have any positive impact. However, since Cornell is a difficult school to get scholarship to, it helps you out in that it's much easier to transfer your scholarship to another...

    Phones at AIM?

Bring it. It'll be stowed away upon arrival and you'll get it back around the second to last day.

    More AIM questions

I went to AIM this past summer. It was a complete culture shock for me. I thought I'd be ready since I also went to USAFA Summer Seminar and was expecting the same sort of deal. I was wrong. USCGA has Swab Summer (boot camp) going on at the same time, and you basically do the same thing as them...

    Class of 2016!!

Looks like I'm going to be USCGA 2016. I was notified by my former ALO (who now works for admissions) that I won't be receiving an appointment to USAFA. It's disappointing that a dream I chased for four years won't be realized, but I'm thankful for the opportunity presented to me by the Coast...

Official USAFA Class of 2016 Appointment thread

Nothing from CA-26. This anxiety really sucks. I submitted my application last October. All my other schools have notified me or given me exact dates to check. Then theres this...

    Summer Seminar Physical Shape???

Session 3. I actually remember throwing up too, but it was just water that I drank. The most tiring thing was probably walking from place to place on campus and trying to stay awake during briefings, haha. I had a great time though, it was an amazing experience.

    VP Nom -Incomplete File

Short answer is no. I highly doubt it. USNA appointments and VP nominations function completely independently of each other.

    Summer Seminar Physical Shape???

If you're in good shape then don't worry about it. Doolie day is barely half a day. I'm from California and I did okay with the altitude change. Just drink lots of water. Enjoy yourself; summer seminar is tons of fun. That and AIM very well made my summer.
