Glad my DS chose USCGA over KP. Vaccination rate their is over 95% and other than indoor mask mandates everything is running as close to normal as possible including in person parents weekend.
As a Career Coast Guard vet I can say that in my experience command comes from all majors and is primarily based on your performance and career path. NAME is an excellent major but be sure that marine engineering is what you want to study and will do the best in. NAME is in high demand in the...
There is no minimum score that I’m aware of. Max push ups is 60. Be aware the the push ups are required to be done at a cadence. The cadence is available on the USCGA website. My son is a current 4th class cadet who was able to improve his push-ups from 40 in August last year to 60 by the time...
My mistake. For reference my son scored 287 on his PFE taken the last week of September. He was right around your score this time last year so there are points to be gained if you work at it. Don’t look at averages find areas where you can excel and stand out. EA is not for the average candidate
While your SAT scores are on the low side they aren’t going to be any more competitive for RA as the pool expands and there are traditionally fewer appointments. Take this time to improve the things you can ie retake SAT and try the ACT. You should also be working diligently to insure you score...
My DS is a current swab at USCGA. They went test optional last year as it was very difficult to schedule tests during the pandemic. He was only able to get one ACT test taken. That said I would not advise trying to gain admissions without test scores unless your academics are absolutely stellar.
My DS did not take the essay portion and was asked why he didn’t at his MOC interview for KP. His ACT was 33 but like everyone else is telling you scores are just one part of the admissions picture. That said, you should be looking to take both tests with essay portion a couple of times to give...
I know it’s not the assignment you hoped for but Miami of Ohio is an excellent school with a great NROTC unt. Good luck to you, with your attitude you will be a fine Naval Officer. Fly Navy!
