    **A thread for the Girls**

Hair is all up to you and what you're comfortable with. If you want it short, do it NOW, so you have time to figure out what works for you and how to keep it tame. If you have long hair and that's what you're used to, don't cut it, because it will only make it harder on you.

    Visitors

I'd worry about getting through BCT before worrying about when the dances are...

    Sister getting married during basic

Plain and simply, I'm 99% sure no.

    T-shirt and shorts sizing

Hmm... I somewhat disagree with the PC shirts running too small... I swear small PC shirts and they're kind of big, but they're for working out so a little baggy isn't a problem. I'm 5 feet, 100ish pounds if that gives you an idea.

    **A thread for the Girls**

Half the time, I would still have shampoo in my hair when they yelled for us to get out. My room mate had to help me rinse my hair in the sink. Hint- if you have long hair, learn to french braid! I french braided my hair at night, sprayed it with hairspray, and I was good to go for the morning.

    **A thread for the Girls**

Just bumping this post I wrote awhile ago back to the top. Might be useful for new female appointees.

    Hotels

I agree- if you're traveling alone, definitely do the Bed and Breakfast. That's what I did, and it was definitely the right choice for me. There were two other cadets with me at the house, and it was nice to have someone to go through everything with.

Sending my boy to USAFA... A Mothers Story

As for the part about parent's attending inprocessing day, it really depends on the cadet. I'm a C2C now, and my parents did not come with me for inprocessing. I did the AOG bed and breakfast, and definitely feel like it was the right choice for me. just a little cadet insight!

    If you received a TWE...

I also got a TWE the first year I applied. I HIGHLY encourage reapplying if it's what you want to do. I almost didn't finish my application the second time, but I thank God everyday that I did finish. I am now ranked highly in my class and will get my ring in May! There is still plenty of...

    2011 appointments half filled already?

Haha, I was that cadet at the brunch that said I never go home... I traveled overseas twice last summer, and will be traveling this spring break and summer leave. USAFA just has too many amazing opportunities to take advantage of when you have the chance to do so...

Anyone in IL get a 2015 appointment yet?

Congrats to you! I'm a current cadet from Illinois. Don't worry if you don't hear back from the other senator, you only need one nomination.

    Advice for "gap year"

I did a year of college and then applied to the academy. And I think fencersmother has the best advice. My big mistake was not keeping up with my "techy" classes. Take the highest level math you can, and try to get into physics or chemistry, which are typically the harder core classes.

2 1/2 year job vs. Clubs

I feel a little differently here. I would try to move your work schedule around- maybe cut back a few days a week or just work on the weekends. A job is good, but clubs and other activities prove that you work well with other people your age.
