AFROTC great news! but it's bitter sweat

It all depends on how the school records this. We live in North Carolina. My son received a Type-7 (He had similar stats the original poster) last year and was offered in-state tuition to the University of South Carolina. USC shows it as OOS tuition with a scholarship added back to net out...

ROTC a bad idea for med school

Can anybody weigh in on Pharmacy? Is it possible to become a Pharmacist through ROTC (any of the branches)? All of my research seems to say no but it looked like some expertise is in this thread so figured I'd ask.

    Navy ODS

My son, who is currently a Midshipman 4th class, is trying to find out how difficult it is to get into ODS after getting a PharmD. There does not seem to be much info out there regarding competitiveness of these positions. I posted a similar question in the ROTC forum but didn't get any...

    NROTC and Pharmacy

My son, a MIDN 4th class, is trying to keep his options open. He seems interested in remaining technical. He is a chemistry major and has talked about the possibility of becoming a pharmacist. I know that there are Pharmacists in the Navy but all my Googling shows that they completed...

    NROTC: What is a Nuke?

I recently spoke to my son, a Midshipman 4th class at USC (South Carolina), about his thoughts on NROTC. Granted, it is very early in the game, but he told me that he was interested in learning more about being a nuke. I'm pretty ignorant about what this means and was hoping somebody could...

I'm worried about getting accepted for a scholarship

There is absolutely no problem in applying to multiple branches for ROTC. Apply to all 3 to keep your options open.

    My ROTC Progress

From what I remember (and briefly checked in old posts), the first notifications for NROTC scholarships started popping up around Oct 10 last year.

    NROTC Acceptance Decision

My son received a letter from the Navy awarding him a scholarship to his first choice school. After some reflection on his part, he has decided that he would like to go to what was originally listed as his #3 choice. He has filled out the Placement Change Request For NROTC Nominee. How does...

    Any recent NROTC scholarships?

My son found out today that he was awarded a 4 year NROTC Scholarship to UNC Chapel Hill, his first choice school, as a Tier 2 Major (Chemistry). He has a 3.67/4.82 GPA (with 5 AP courses) and a 34 ACT.

    AFROTC Type 7 Scholarship Questions

It has been a while since I originally posted this. Unfortunately, we're not much closer to any type of resolution. My son called the detachment at the school and did not get any type of definitive answer. They suggested that he talk to the registrar. Since he is in school and has track...

Optometry School in the Air Force

This is a bit off-topic but I'm trying to find information for a friend regarding Optometry School. His son is graduating with a BS in biochemistry. He is interested in getting some information about a scholarship (to study Optometry) that would lead to him being commissioned in the Air Force...

    AFROTC Type 7 Scholarship Questions

Kinnem, This is actually a great idea that I had not considered! My original thought was to contact the Det there but I didn't think anybody would be around. At worst case, we can talk to them at the beginning of next semester. Thanks again!.
