    AFROTC Experience

Well, you have no worries then. One of my kids was the same story, running was the easy part. Pushups were (and remain) the hard part especially being taller and long limbed. But he gets through it without any heroic preparation. Just do pushups regularly and if going to the gym is appealing...

    AFROTC Experience

That's a pretty high bar. For example, 15:28 for 2 miles looks like 90/100 of the ACFT 2mile run for a male. 13:22 gets 100 points. AF uses a 1.5mi run I think so its hard to compare. If someone was a track or XC athlete in HS, 13 minutes might be no problem but without some running...

IF YOU QUIT DURING/AFTER FRESHMAN YEAR, what happens to that tuition?

I'll be honest, I read the thread title wrong twice, lol. 🍸🍸🍸

    AFROTC Type 1 College Choices

I'd urge you to consider the risk of being unable to obtain medical clearance. Or just unable to obtain it by Sept. Do you have any even possible DQ-able conditions? Or conditions that might require a waiver? There are many seemingly trivial reasons you can get hung up here. And if you do, can...

How does medical exam work for a 3 year ROTC scholarship winner?

Get it going and behind you asap. Not so much because you are needing your scholarship to kick in, like a 4y does but just so you know you're qualified and not spending valuable time in college doing something that isn't going to pan out..

    AFROTC tough year for HSSP

I think if you want top talent, you have to make a commitment. This policy seems to encourage "self-elimination" and perhaps discourages participation by really good prospects who have other options.

AFROTC Selection Results Just Posted 3/14/23 pm

Have to be honest, I'm a bit uneasy about one aspect of the AFROTC. That is the apparently non-zero chance of getting cut after 2 years due to lack of available slots going forward. Even if you're not in trouble etc. Anyone else concerned about this? Or know if 4yr scholarship recipients have...

AFROTC Selection Results Just Posted 3/14/23 pm

If you go to the accept/decline tile, then read the linked pdf on the next page, esp Sec 3.1., it clarifies what to do. Congrats to all. Our 2nd go round. First wanted AF, got AR, doing great, 3rd yr. This one got AF.

ROTC and D1 Track & Field?

Its tough to serve 2 masters, let alone 3. You can always try though and quit one or the other if its too much. Unless you are a stone cold ringer, you'll be on a partial at best for running. Likely on little to nothing at many schools so may not be giving up much if you elect to drop running...

Glad to hear it. Any tips on avoiding similar in the future?

28-29 March is listed on the landing page as a potential maintenance period.

Probably accurate analysis for the most part.

AFROTC Scholarship Board - Week of March 23, 2020

Reject for my kid. Overall...surprised. Last board..not so surprised given the low selection rate. It still seems to me that if your GPA is not quite high, you have little chance. Thats was the only weakness (about 3.6). Says the interview was fine, better than the Army interview he thought...

    Here we go March AFROTC

Re boarded again apparently. He got Army on first try so a little bummed. Still a chance though..

    Army ROTC Major/transfer

Good chance you'll do fine and get in. You'll also have a good idea after 1 semester and if things aren't going well, you could (probably) change majors. Depends what is more important, engineering, CU, ROTC? There is no wrong answer. Your overall risk is low but I agree on consulting CU cadre.
