I feel for these cadets and their families. I hope they learn from this, many do not.

Don't let the actions of a few dictate your decision. As the mom of an OG I can't tell you there are many..many fine cadets, most in fact.

My son was to start bolc on Aug 21. He had to report on July 21. He went to base everyday for pt and was tasked for something, one week cleaning tanks etc., until he started bolc.
After he went right to a 2 week course and now is back to going to post everyday for pt and tasks while he waits...
My son and another boy in his HS received nom from the same source. They were both appointed to usma. When we heard the other boy was admitted we assumed that was the end of the road. 2 days later he received his bfe.
