    NASS. Still haven't heard anything

DS got rejected. And he's confused and dejected. No waitlist, and hasn't been invited to CVW. It might be time to focus elsewhere.

    NASS. Still haven't heard anything

I agree. Furthermore, my DS applied on the morning the applications opened. He's a bit disillusioned that acceptances (some) have gone out already and he's still waiting. We don't come from a military family; his interest is still strong in the USNA, but if he doesn't get it, there's no way he's...

    Summer Seminar 2017 anyone?

Most of us are waiting. We'll all know by the end of the week.

    Summer Seminar 2017 anyone?

From what I've been reading here and elsewhere, it's just a trickle who have heard, and there's no relationship between when the application was submitted. Most of us will hear beginning next week after applications close. My DS applied on the first day too, and we're still waiting. Good luck.

Used mj twice.. can I still get into usna?

Something that hasn't been mentioned is why the question is important and whether it should be asked. I know the question can't be changed, but the fact that smoking twice in high school needs to be explained, or may be disqualifying, is simply shortsighted and wrong. Is getting drunk off your...

    CVW or prom

Try to do both. Maybe you can reschedule your CVW?

    NASS acceptances

It had appeared that some acceptances were released each Tuesday, but from the lack of activity on this thread, there weren't any today. I just hope for my DS's sake that he hears something soon. He applied on the first date applications opened. Is there any rhyme or reason as to why and when...

    NASS acceptances

Thanks for the info. I must say my DS is a little disappointed he hasn't heard. He applied on the first day and, in my subjective view, is very qualified. The only issue, as I've stated, is he's only available for week 2.

    NASS acceptances

There doesn't appear to be much of a wave at all, with the exception of the first several acceptances. Like you, my DS is still waiting and hoping. The problem with his is that he can't go week one because of finals, and can't go week 3 because of Boys State. But he'll be mighty disappointed if...

SA and 529 Fund tax planning

529 accounts are held by the parent (usually) and the child is the beneficiary. Any income that needs to be reported on gains because of matriculation to a service academy will not be reported on the student's tax returns, but rather on the parent's.

    NASS acceptances

From the Naval Academy website, specifically what they use as selection criteria: "Superior high school performance to include: GPA, class standing, and/or strong PSAT, SAT, or ACT results (test scores not required, but recommended)." If you don't have at least the PSAT, they might wonder why...

    NASS/Boys State

He has no experience with the military, other than my State Guard reservist activity the last few years. His interest in the USNA started early in his junior year and has continued to grow. It surprised us as he'd never mentioned it as even an option before. Now it's all he really talks about...

    NASS/Boys State

DS just got accepted to Boys State. He's applied for NASS, and is super excited if he has the chance to do both. The problem is that the first week of NASS, he's in finals and the third week is Boys State. When he applied to NASS, he didn't mention the Boys State conflict; at that time he hadn't...

Southern CA Service Academy Day - SEGUNDO CA - 12 FEB 2017

Thanks for the info. We're going with our DS, a high school junior. He's interested in the Naval Academy. He's applied already for the NASS.
