    BCT 2 Marksman

One man’s great … another man’s ? I suppose like any adjective, “great” is in the eye of the beholder. My son will be working on his Masters degree at MIT. That was one of his goals. He thinks it’s great. He looks forward to a career as an Officer and playing a valuable role in his...

    BCT 2 Marksman

Paperwork SNAFU My son (2013) qualified for the ribbon and star while working with the Combat Shooting Team. He wore both during his time at the academy. Then when processing out, just before graduation, he discovered that the paperwork was never filed and so it is not in his record. I was...

    Oath at commissioning

You guys are great! Mike and Steve, Thank you for the insight. You both have been a great source of perspective for my wife and me (as have the other “regulars”). Thank you all. As to this post, tradition and its function are important to our family too. I would be surprised if my son...

    Oath at commissioning

First salute / shared pinning on I think my son will ask a special Full Bird to administer oath, and pin on his rank. Do you think his mom or I should pin one shoulder too? Also his cousin was a TACP. He is out of the military now, but can he come in uniform and recieve or give the first...

Travel to USAFA via Denver (for summer seminar)

Depends who's driving "The distance between Denver International Airport DIA and USAFA is 75 miles and it will take between 1:15 and 2:00 (depending on traffic and whether you take I-225 or E-470, which is a toll road)." You are correct (between 1 and 2 hours). After 4 years now it seems...

Travel to USAFA via Denver (for summer seminar)

Dont change planes - get off Land in Denver and then get on a bus. The ride to the Academy is about 40 – 45 Minutes. AND I would look into if the Academy has rides available from the Denver Airport.

    USAFA Cheating Scandal

Case by case by case ... Justice, Mercy and Redemption are just as important as the rule of law. But the Rule Of Law must come first. If Mercy is to be meted out, it must be clear that repentance is sincere, that redemption is possible and that every observer knows, the rules are not...

    USAFA Cheating Scandal

HMM, what does this mean? "We Will Not Lie, Steal Or Cheat, Nor Tolerate Among Us Anyone Who Does" Seems like the cadet needs to be elite in all areas of life, not just academics and sports, but ethically too. If their guilty, cut them! It's good for the budget, good for moral and wakes...
