    Hypothyroidism

Thanks! I'll start looking for people to contact about it. I know the FAA flight physical I underwent wanted to check my thyroid levels when I was on my meds, is that what you were talking about? I hope so, because they found me to be within an acceptable range and gave me a second class physical.

    Plan B

I wouldn't say I'm confident in the EC section of my résumé (I've seen way too many people on here with stellar records looking for chances) but I do have ample evidence of commitment and leadership: Robotics for 7 years, 2 as Team Captain and 1 as Assistant Coach; Mentor to my school's robotics...

    Hypothyroidism

The mediaction is a very light synthesized thyroid horomone. I can go off of it for the rest of my life if I so choose and suffer no serious side effects, but when I take it I am more alert and my sleep cycle works better. My metabolism becomes a tad slower when I get off of it, but not much. It...

    Hypothyroidism

I've heard from unofficial sources that hypothyroidism, so long as it's mild and medicated (which mine is) is not a disqualifier for the USAFA medical. Is this true, and if so, can anybody tell me what 'mild' means in less fuzzy terms? Thanks so much!

    Plan B

Pima, thank you so much for all the good information! I'll definitely take that into consideration. It's good to know that it should be fine if I'm open about ROTC being a Plan B. I didn't know that it was just as competitive as USAFA-yikes! Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely give it my...

    Plan B

Thanks so much! I'll definitely apply for a ROTC scholarship. Any tips on what to do? When I go in for the interview, should I mention at all that I actually want to go to the Academy?

    Plan B

This forum is host to an incredible resource of people with experience and wisdom, so I was hoping I could ask some of you about what you think of my plan of action. I'm dead set on going into the Air Force, one way or another. I'm also dead set on going to the Air Force Academy, and if I...

    Calling all Ohioans!

Hello! I know a lot of how competitive an applicant is depends on who else is in their district. I'm from District 10 in Ohio, and wondering if anybody with experiences with how competitive this state and district are is willing to share. Thanks!

    Medical Question

As a fellow hopeful with hypothyroidism, I've looked into this and although there is no definitive answer, so long as you're medicated and your blood levels are ok it shoul be no issue. I've run into a similar problem when getting my flight physical, usually all they want is a blood test (for...

    Sports Advice

These are all great ideas! I'll look into contacting public schools for sports, and talk to some schoolmates of mine about getting a club together. I heard what the Academy really looks for with sports is evidence of both leadership and physical fitness...do you think I could satisfactorily...

    Sports Advice

Thanks! I'll talk to the school management about it. The school has said very firmly that they intend to never have an athletic department, but maybe a club would work. Thank you!

    Sports Advice

Hello! I'm a rising Junior and I've been working my tail off to get into the Academy since Freshman year. I have a 4.0, robotics team captain, hundreds of hours of volunteer time, student pilot...pretty much the same as anyone else on here, except for something that has me really nervous. I've...
