Ukraine Aid & House Speaker's Son USNA C/O 2028 Appointment

I am happy to have read about Speaker Johnson’s son’s appointment to the Naval Academy. It is nice to see decision makers getting more serious about the consequences of their decisions when they personally understand the risks.

Look at a map and you will see why Newark makes sense.

Taxis/ride shares/rental cars near train stations

I strongly recommend flying into Newark and renting a car. Newark is closest and easiest to navigate to WP. Another thing that i strongly suggest is to come 2 days early. Not one day early…. The weather can result in plane delays in the summer. Happened to us, and spent the night on the...

    Overnight orientation visit

Thayer is a good place to stay. For something to do I strongly recommend the Storm King Art Center in New Windsor. It is an outdoor sculpture park with huge and wonderful pieces of art. You will have a lot of time and the Storm King is pretty much unforgettable.

How Often Can Cadets Write Home?

I wrote my son most every day. We recieved 2-3 letters in return. They are so tired and the times demands are such that there may be few responses. However, KNOW THAT YOUR LETTERS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Here are some suggestions. 1. Make sure to address the letter correctly. You...

    Burial Flags

Why not re-use them by donating to a local National cemetery or to the local VA office that has responsibility. In many locations a local post office is the repository for flags for funerals. Find out which PO in your location and ask if they will accept them for re-issue.

    2026 Candidate - Profile Recommendations

You are doing well. One point of suggestion. A LOA is nice, but all that it does is take the pressure off as presume that you will be accepted and attend. However, the real goal is to put your boots on the ground on R-Day. From the moment that you are standing in that line, it no longer...

    Multitool/knife for beast

You may wish to check on the issue of declaring a knife when in checked airline baggage. I do not believe that it is required I put a knife in my checked baggage routinely. Guns are on other matter, but knives, no requirement to declare in checked baggage. A different result MAY occur if your...

    Summer leader experience

Correlation vs causation. SLE attendance correlates with an appointment, however there doesn’t appear to be a causative relationship. Attendees are more likely to secure appointments but attendance does not increase the probability of an appointment.

    Multitool/knife for beast

Gerber Multitool I got my son a gerber multitool. It worked well for him. A big suggestion is to make sure that the one you select has needlenose pliers rather than machine pliers. Needlenose is needed to make front sight adjustments on the M4, something that your cadet will have to do...
