I believe Glen's statement of "just a few" was in regard to the veterans that take day classes with cadets. The 1,500 civilians that attend online or in the evening are insignificant to daily life at The Citadel as there is zero interaction between the two groups. The Citadel cadet experience is...
Tell him to treat all of the yelling as just a game and never take it personally. Remind him that he is not going through this alone. He must embrace the suck. That's how I got through Knob Year at The Citadel over 3 decades ago.
I was at the game yesterday and was very impressed with VMI's defense. If Cobb plays I doubt we win that game. I see good things ahead for VMI football.
What is humorous is the obvious infatuation with The Citadel's civilian programs. And I am positive that VMI has changed quite a bit since NAS attended.
At the end of the day who cares if a handful of 5th year seniors play on the football team? VMI and The Citadel are the only 2 state supported military colleges in the country and that is where the similarities end. VMI has chosen to remain a cadet only school while The Citadel has chosen to...
This does not apply to The Citadel as our civilians attend school in the evening and most of these are graduate students. Sounds like a great opportunity though for students attending SMC's where cadets and civilians attend school together.
Again, civilian programs at The Citadel have zero impact on a cadet during his/her 4 years. For those considering The Citadel please do yourself a favor and talk with an alum and pay no attention to silly discussions about civilian programs.
Citadel graduates aren't supportive of the evening civilian programs but our hands are tied. The SC Legislature directed The Citadel in the early 70's to offer evening civilian programs to citizens of the Lowcountry. Most grads are not happy about how these programs are marketed and would prefer...
I stand corrected on my last comment and agree with you Jcc. Most comments on this board are positive in nature with obvious exceptions. I personally have tremendous respect for anyone that attends a SMC. We should all be cheerleaders of our individual schools without bickering over the differences.
Citadel Numbers
The evening undergrad and grad students at The Citadel do not factor in as they do not participate in ROTC. Regardless, the percentage for VMI is very impressive. Is this typical at VMI? The Citadel has traditionally sent a third of every graduating class into the military.
