I don't know what medical records you have already submitted to Dodmerb but I would think that documentation from peds saying that there were no complications would be helpful. It can lead to heart disease so if you were my kid, I would have something in writing about no cardiac complications, etc.
We have had a great experience with GMC. GMC was recommended to my son after he did not receive an appointment to the USCGA last year. We liked that it was closer to home, compared to MMI, and Milledgeville is a little bit of a bigger town. They do have non corp of cadet students but my son said...
Gotcha. DS is under waiver review for all 5 SAs. The wait is hard.
I'm sure there is a process for appealing denied waivers - might want to reach out the the waiver authority at USMA first to see what the steps are. It's possible that you might get a waiver for the other academies! Not sure of...
They talk
Yes, they talked on the phone. Feedback was to improve PFE score (his score was average), continue demonstrating leadership, strong grades, extracurriculars. The recommendation was for prep school so that’s the route he took.
And I should clarify in my initial post when I mentioned...
He applied last year during regular admission pretty close to the deadline and was rejected. He is at a SA prep school as a non-sponsored USCGA cadet. He was advised to apply early action, as were the other non-sponsored cadets down there, but it sounds like only one of them has received an...
DS just learned that he received a congressional nomination to USNA, USMA, and the merchant marine academy.
USCGA remains his top choice but we are feeling less hopeful for an EA appointment by 12/23 and think that a deferral to regular admission is more likely (he’s a reapplicant - self prep-...
DS submitted his EA application Oct 14. Got an email the day after thanksgiving saying it was under review. He said his portal still says “submitted.” At this point I’ve just accepted the fact that he will hear something by 12/23 and I’m trying my very best to be patient (but it’s so hard!!)
My son was recently accepted into the USCGA Scholars program as a self-prep student. I was wondering if there is anyone else on this forum who is going that route? Or any other sponsored prep students going to GMC? We are very excited but I feel like I know very little :)
My son is applying to GMC for the self prep program after learning that he did not receive an appointment for USCGA. Last week his DODMERB notification arrived and he is medically disqualified. We know that the waiver process is not initiated by the CGA unless they consider him a "highly...
