    NROTC acceptance

You don't have to accept by a university till May 1 (for the majority of schools). No harm in waiting till then if you don't want to lose the normal non-refundable deposit.

    Texas A&M at Blinn

If you look at any thread on here regarding "crosstown" students, 9 out of 10 times people say it's more of an advantage than disadvantage. A few reasons: separate military vs school life, have a wider selection of social groups due to not always being forced to be with the same ROTC people, etc

Summer options for NROTC college programmers?

I was NROTC and many of us MIDN had internships over breaks. These include govt ones (Congress, defense contractors, DOD, etc) and private ones (Wall street, etc). The world is your oyster! It really helps to have being a cadet/MIDN on your college resume! Start applying now!

    Educational Delay (NROTC)

"Although Navy Option midshipmen may indicate their interest in graduate education during serviceassignment (i.e. when submitting their Service Assignment/Duty Preference Form) all official requests forGraduate Education LOA must be submitted to NSTC N93. In doing so, midshipmen must indicate...

Double major or minor with scholarship?

For anyone looking at this researching for NROTC... it's the same case. If it's apart of a "normal" workload, NROTC will pay for it. For Example: my college required 8 GEN ED credits... my minor was 4 out of my 6 gen ed credits, so I only needed two additional courses that were apart of my...

    Norwich NROTC

Reach out to the unit and ask to speak privately with a current MIDN! They're great resources!

    NROTC Summer Course Work

I concur that this was also the case for my ROTC unit. as long as it was required for the degree, it would be covered. Some students took Calc/Physics during the summer in order to lessen the burden on themselves during the schoolyear. In this case, because they just wanted to make it "easier"...

    ROTC at Princeton versus Duke

Definitely go visit, ask to shadow a student at each school's ROTC, and see if the schools offer any overnight programs... at the end of the day, the school IMO matters more than the unit. If they don't enjoy the school/major, ROTC is gonna be a bumpy ride.

    NROTC College deadlines

Great step! Additionally, (though you shouldn't rely on this as a main plan), every year there are a select few freshman that transfer schools for their last 3 years of ROTC. Regardless, applying to Jacksonville and Uni of Hawaii Manoa are great steps! If you can financially afford it, I'd...

    NSI Swim Qual

As for the other class swim quals that you will do in the fleet/at ROTC... ROTC knows not everyone is a gifted swimmer. It'll all work out fine, they work with you. Even in flight school, graduated from college-ensigns had rough times swimming.... with some extra help EVERYONE made it through!

    ROTC Scholarship Payout

Just giving some more encouragement, like you've already received... the majority of MIDN who stick with it, put in their max effort (in PT, Navy ROTC activities and grades), got the 3 yr scholarship. Best of luck, I know finances the first year can be tough... but if you can push through and...

    Army ROTC Internships

Lots of people in my NROTC applied for internships on their own, and were really successful... especially leveraging the fact their were MIDNs/Cadets, which interviewers loved. Congress, State House/Senate, DoD, local defense contractors etc. Definitely not too late to apply. Good luck!

    Waitlisted at first choice

Will concur with his! He is DEFINITELY still in the running... especially U of M, I have heard many similar stories to the ones you have said not getting in EA, but then end up getting in. I will also reemphasize what ProudDad17 has said... let admissions know about the scholarship. This has a...

    Special Operations Preparation Clubs ROTC

My ROTC unit (50-70 students depending on the year), did not have one. A motivated 3/C made one, with the help of the Marine Corps officers, and got a couple of other people to join. Fast forward a few years, that motivated 3/C was selected for SEALs! If you want one, I'm sure your unit will...

    Difference between USNA and NROTC?

As an overall; I wouldn't sweat the ribbon stuff too much (honestly at all). The end of the day, the daily life differences of USNA vs NROTC are really the important differences. the ribbons don't matter in general, but especially don't matter in college, besides "looking good." You will have...
