    Seal Dive Watch

Have had good luck with a Luminox myself (and have owned several of them over the years), but most of the folks you see on active duty wear the Casio G-Shock for all of the reasons listed above.

    Appointee limit per school?

Sometimes, certain secondary schools (e.g. large Catholic high schools, private schools, etc.) have students from more than one Congressional District. That, plus additional nominations from a state's two U.S. Senators and other sources, mean that there certainly can be multiple appointees from...

    USNA SPEEDING TICKET

Tonight's sports news included a note that a highly-recruited high school football star had his West Point offer rescinded because he did not disclose a disciplinary action. Just a word to the wise...

    USNA SPEEDING TICKET

I once had a CO tell me, "I can accept all kinds of bad news, but I don't like surprises." I would recommend that the candidate be up front about the infraction; it's far better than to have USNA discover the matter on their own. Far better.

    Any nominations from MA?

MA-9 is out, too. All Congressional noms should be released in next two weeks. Mass. Senators traditionally release their slates just prior to 31 JAN deadline.

    Dilemma

Don't forget the various State Maritime Academies (Maine, Massachusetts, New York, California, Texas, Great Lakes) that have turned out many, many fine Navy officers over the years. Generally, each State Academy has an NROTC unit/program that leads to commissioning. If Navy service is indeed...

    Are straight B's okay?

Memphis - you are nautical miles off target with that one. The student mentioned could also be from an elite prep or private school where every graduate is pretty well prepared to go on to higher education; there may be a family situation that prevented the student from doing as well as others...

    BGO interview attire for women

Agree with "Old Navy." As a BGO who has done hundreds of interviews over the years, I feel that the candidate should try to show that he/she feels that the interview is important enough to look their best. Not every student has the luxury of owning a nice sport coat and tie or designer dress -...

    Community Service

Quality -not quantity - of volunteer/community service is most important.

    I Day Woes

Often tell entering Plebes to remember two things: 1. They can't kill you; 2. They can't stop the clock. Plebe Summer/Plebe Year does end, and every Plebe gains an enormous amount of satisfaction and confidence for having endured and conquered it.

    Schoolmate Appointed, Am I doomed?

A famous Navy saying is: "Don't Give Up the Ship!" You never know where each nomination originates. Yes, there is a limited number for each Congressman/woman, but Senators from each state can also nominate; also, some candidates may get Presidential noms in recognition of 20 or more years of...

    Question About BGO's and BGIS

BGO can only see info for his/her candidates. Area Coordinator can see info on all candidates in the region, but is not allowed to share or discuss candidate's personal information or qualifications with anyone except the assigned BGO.
