It’s true that Rotary and fighter are very competitive but with regard to Rotary, at least from the Academy, there is a separate selection board and pilots go straight to what’s called Helo Training Next, no fixed wing.

Does anyone know if you get an appointment for USAFAPS through CAP, is there still a possibility of getting a direct appointment to USAFA via your MOC @SpiritCommitteeLiaison ?

Congrats to my nephew who got appointed to USAFAPS Class of 25. He or his parents are not on this forum but I thought I should post up here and announce his appointment. He will be joining my DS who is currently a C2C at USAFA.

@usafa2525 thanks for the update! DS said the same thing about disenrollment after I joked with him not to get written up for a training violation. I guess he was pretty dang serious. As you know the class of 25 had a snow storm roll through for recognition and it went through as planned...

With recognition coming up this week (good luck Doolies!), the latest RUMOR is they are considering eliminating recognition all together moving forward.

I find it ironic that the Navy and CG would model their help training after the AF lol.

My heart goes out to this young man, his family and fellow cadets. Tristen is in the same class as my DS and so far we have lost 3 from the class of 2025. Each on of these hurts. Here’s a a Toast.

DS is not part of D&B or any other ensemble. He did have a passion for playing the drums growing up as a hobby, mostly heavy metal. I shipped him his small electronic drum kit and he has it in his dorm just to jam out on.

If I didn’t already know my DS username on this site I’d think you were him lol. He is a 25er and has pretty much communicated to me the same sentiments. Part of training staff, very frustrated with the recent “hazing” protocol. He even says the C4Cs are feeling let down down the loosened standards.

This is good information however, note OPs notification of a Principal Nomination. If he was given the Principal Nomination from the MOC then he is no longer competing against his district slate and as long as he meets all requirements of USAFA, they are required to offer him an appointment...

DS is currently training staff and got cited for a training violation on something that 2 semesters ago would have been acceptable smh

We felt the same the other way around, DS got an appointment but nothing from AFROTC. You just never know…. Best of luck and congrats, a Type 1 scholarship is amazing.
