    AROTC Advanced Camp 2023

I can tell you exactly what happened with our DD last year. We picked her up at Knox and drove her back to our hotel, where she proceeded to take the world’s longest hot shower. We then made our way to a local restaurant where she inhaled an uncomfortable amount of food. Then back to our hotel...

Anyone else doing Syracuse ROTC this fall?

My DD is a MSII in SU's Stalwart Battalion. She has truly thrived and grown as a student and as a leader during her time at SU, even though the past two semesters have been anything but typical. Her freshman year she choose the ROTC Learning Community for housing, and found it very helpful to...

    Language skills

My DD, an MSII at Syracuse, just completed her first semester of Russian, and will receive a $1000 bonus. Only contracted cadets are eligible for the bonuses through the CLIP-B program, but it is a great incentive for cadets interested in critical languages. She plans to continue Russian through...

    Notre Dame ROTC

Not sure if you are aware, but Syracuse does not have a NROTC unit. AROTC and AFROTC only.

    Room and Board

In some cases, it's a result of the school's commitment to being considered military friendly. I know in the case of Syracuse (where DD will be a MSII this year), SU was named the #1 private school for veterans by Military Times, and it is also the location of the National Veterans Resource...

Syracuse University will also resume on campus classes in August. Students will also not return after Thanksgiving break, as end of semester finals will be conducted online.

Anyone familiar with the following Army ROTC programs- Syracuse, UOregon, Penn State, VT, and Lehigh?

Haha, I wish I knew. :) The bursar's office would be the ones to answer that, I think. And yes, the freshman year of tuition as well as the standard R&B allowance (double room and 19 meal per week plan) is credited by the university. At least, that was the case last year.

Anyone familiar with the following Army ROTC programs- Syracuse, UOregon, Penn State, VT, and Lehigh?

My DD has a 3yr AD scholarship, but SU kicks in R&B for all 4 years, as well as the freshman year of tuition. I agree it may not make much sense, but if the deposits aren't paid, you won't be able to reserve housing or register for fall classes.

Anyone familiar with the following Army ROTC programs- Syracuse, UOregon, Penn State, VT, and Lehigh?

Yes, we had to pay the housing deposit as well as the tuition deposit. But once the tuition and housing credits are applied after the start of the semester, the student's account will show a credit.

Anyone familiar with the following Army ROTC programs- Syracuse, UOregon, Penn State, VT, and Lehigh?

The ROTC LC (Learning Community) at Syracuse is a great option for MS I cadets, since they will be rooming with another cadet, and will have shared misery when they have to be up for PT at 5:30 am in the middle of January, LOL! Housing also tends to give ROTC cadets the slightly larger corner...

My DD is also an MS I at Syracuse. She loves the program, and is looking forward to getting back there later this year. Of course, right now she's chewing up my wifi, and running up my food bill (and getting used to sleeping in). :D

    ROTC and Closed Universities

My DD is an MSI at Syracuse, so I can share some of their plans. SU is transitioning to online classes through March 30th, but my suspicion is that this will be extended to the end of the semester. Stalwart Battalion (which includes cadets from Lemoyne, SUNY Oswego, and Utica) will offer online...
