Since Admissions looks at multiple factors besides test scores and grades why wouldn't a Cadre's evaluation be a facor? They spend a week educating a potential candidate on how to be a cadet so their evaluation definitely matters. It's not the only factor but it is one of the many things that...
People leave for various reasons my son's roommate at AIM quit on 2nd day as he really didn't want to be there but felt pressured by his parents. I know several kids who attended AIM and after completing it decided they definitely did not want to attend the Academy. It is a good snap...
AIM is a great realistic experience for what to expect during Swab summer. My son's attendence at AIM showed me as a father some of the biggest changes in behavior from him as it really made him grow up. He was proud he stuck it out as quite a few people quit from his company even though it...
Just for facts 137 of the incoming class of 2029 attended AIM which was 55% of the 265 cadets inducted into class of 2029. AM definitely is a factor which helps your qualifications. Good luck and hope my son who will attended AIM in 2021and then went to NAPS and is now a Cadre helps to motivate...
Isn't the Air Force Academy a military installation and there is no "right" to have good internet or to allow people to place unsecured communucation devices on the base? I know that might sound like an exaggeration but my DS at a different Academy has had restricted internet and at various...
Remember typically 60 to 70 cadets of an incoming class are from CGAS so they all take an extra year to attend. Thats about 25% of each class not counting reapplicants so so the number of cadets who do it in 5 years not 4 is considerable and there is no negative perception of that.
Coast Guard Academy every year has many cadets who have applied and weren't selected previously. If you really want to attend CGA don't give up but continue to improve and apply next year. Good luck!
I can say 2 years ago the NAPS class had very little liberty so it was a long 10 months. Parents should look be aware that even getting a birthday cake delivered requires finding a bakery or someone with base access and the gate is more then a mile from the dorms. It's a tough time but my son...
Lol expect a long 10 months with alot of cold and gloomy days this winter but also expect to meet and make some of the best friends at NAPS. My son said it was a grind but the people he met there are still friends even 3 years later. Also at least in Coast Guard atending NAPS is it's own...
I just wonder what parents did before the internet when their children applied to a service academy beause the posts here make the USAFA seem like the worst place to attend. This forum specifically the Air Force Academy has become so negative that it makes you wonder what is the purpose of these...
Lol yea my son didnt participate because he wasn't going to risk his CGAS spot at NAPS. His classmates did a mild senior prank and caused no serious damage but my son wasn't willing to risk it.
Yea my son is still close with his Navy friends even going Into his 2C year at CGA. Napsters are a great group and congrats to your DD after making it through!
