DD got the same. She’s very disappointed and doesn’t understand how they select for this based on the information on the application. She has above a 4.0, already a 1360 SAT and two varsity letters. And her brother was selected a few years ago.
Can you have any items such a small coffee maker or fridge in your room?
Should we get boots and black shoes and break them in before we arrive?
Do we get a backpack to use during the academic year? Is it possible to bring our own?

I get this, but the wording is “congratulations, you have been chosen from among thousands” which makes it sound like an honor.
I was just wondering how many slots they have this year. I think there are typically 1200 or so?
Does anyone know how many they accepted to SLE this year? It seems like quite a few received rejections but then got accepted the next day. Just wondering if they opened it up to more?
If parent is active duty stationed overseas and each parent has residency in different states, does DS get to pick which state to seek a nomination? Can you try both states?
