The rumor mill stirs because people walk on as College Programmers and expect a university to give them the benefit as if they were on scholarship. CP will not trip the benefit wire at most colleges.

If you don't mind answering this......when did you submit your NROTC Application? I ask because if you are a Tier 2 major, but have not yet heard back, then you likely sitting on the alternate list for NROTC. And assuming that is true, you have a better than average shot at getting a 3 year...

Agreed. I don't know the exact statistics but it is a very high percentage. My point was simply that it isn't a 100 percent guarantee compared to the NROTC scholarship offer.

You can reply back to the original email notification you received for the NROTC scholarship. As a backup measure, you can notify your NROTC unit that you will be declining. I am certain you know this already, but your selection for NAPS is not a guarantee of USNA appointment. Just want to...

In the email which notified about the scholarship, there should have been an email for questions. Or simply reply back to the notification email with the form. There used to be a way to do this in the portal but that may have changed since I left.

I'm sure there will be plenty of good advice in terms of which may be better. As an aside, if he really isn't feeling committed to NROTC, responding back soonest can allow NSTC to give that quota to an alternate candidate. Otherwise, the unused quota shifts into the bank for sideload...

Your first day of ADSO will be the day you commission. You do not have to be in your accession school (BDOC) or assigned to your ship. You will get a SWO brief prior to you receiving a commission. They will explain the standard career path for Surface Officers. Basically, you do an Ensign...

The training you receive at the unit is the same as all the other Midshipmen. Your active duty training as a SWO will also be identical. One difference for advanced standing is that you are not obligated to take calculus and physics.
