    Those of Us Still Waiting

For those waitlisted: This is advice from Bear's Day last year given by a cadet at the USCGA. This cadet had been waitlisted but USCGA was his dream school so he decided to do whatever he could to get off the waitlist. He was in constant communication with his Admissions Officer (AO) and he...

PSA—check your junk/spam folder in email

I have noticed that emails from the "USCGA Admissions Office" and the "U.S. Coast Guard Academy" end up in my junk/spam folder. Since a lot of people are awaiting communication from the USCGA, I thought this might be helpful to share. Best of luck to everyone and I hope this helps!

Anyone else having issues with DoDMERB website ...

I have been having the same problem as well, but I've found that accessing the website on an "incognito" window gets rid of the problem.

    What to expect—CGA Bear's Day

Last April I attended "Bear’s Day" at the Coast Guard Academy. Since Bear’s Day is coming up this April, I thought I’d make a thread about some important things to know/bring/wear. PRE-BEAR’S DAY If you are reading this far enough in advance, I’d highly recommend reaching out to someone at the...

CVW advice from a recent drag

I'm so glad she found my advice useful—hearing that made my day! I hope she had a wonderful time at CVW!

USCGA Class of 2024 Appointment Thread

Thank you so much! I did not get an email stating that it was being sent for review. Nor I did not get an email informing me of an admissions decision. In fact, the "Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board Review Complete" checkbox on my bear's den account isn't even checked as completed! On 2/20 I...

    ROTC Interview Tips

These are some good points! I believe that the NROTC interviewer has access to your file as well, and I am positive that when you fill out the application, you mark any service academies/other ROTC services that you are applying to.

    ROTC Interview Tips

I agree in general about the nom letters. However, in my case I felt that they were important for two reasons. 1. I found out about NROTC late. I didn't want my interviewer to think that I knew nothing about the military and was only interested in NROTC for the money. 2. The female retention...

    ROTC Interview Tips

Before my NROTC Interview I was looking through the forums for any advice I could find. Most threads weren’t up to date and there wasn’t a lot of information about what women should wear for the interview, so I thought that I’d drop my two-cents here. Interview Tips Be overqualified This may...

CVW advice from a recent drag

About a month ago I was fortunate enough to attend a CVW at the Naval academy. It was such an amazing experience, and it assured me that USNA is where I want to go. Before CVW, I searched everywhere for information about what to wear to CVW (as a female), and I found next to nothing. I decided...
