My DS is also Class of 2019 and what a whirlwind it has been. First and foremost, enjoy every second you have with your DS/DD because June will be here before you know it.
We did not go out to CO for I day as our DS wanted to go out and do it alone. He said that it would be easier and was time...
Wait near your email inbox because there will not be anything through snail mail!! Check the portal everyday! My DS got his appointment one year ago today! He is enjoying the academy so far! Good Luck!
Don't back off....USAFA does get your final transcript! You need to finish strong just in case Plan B has to be used. A basic cadet in my DS's squad severely broke his leg during BCT and had to leave. He is now attending his plan b school.
My DS is a 19er so I can try to answer some of these questions about sponsor families.
I am not sure of the percentage of doolies or upperclassmen that have sponsor families but I know that not all do.
We met our DS's sponsor family in April at the Appointee Day tours. Their DS is also a...
My DS is a 19er.....Definitely take Calculus! Having had AP Calc last year has really helped my DS. Also, take an advanced or AP Chemistry if it is offered at your HS. It was not offered at his HS and hasn't had Chem since 10th grade so it is a beast of a class for him.

This is from an email that I got recently......

Yellow Fellow may not be interested but I am and I am passing everything on to my DS. All of the advice on this thread and others on this forum are awesome and greatly appreciated. I don't post much but I am reading the forum often. Thanks to all!
I think the purpose of a sponsor family is to give cadets a place to to get some time away from the academy. Being from Virginia, I am very happy about this program and lucky to have found a family that will sponsor my DS for DDO and the academic year.
