Waitlisted for Fall of 2013 at North Georgia

Then he's talking about the military high schools. There's a bunch of them. "College Prep" Plus some of them take "post-grads"; students who need more work before they can enter college.

Waitlisted for Fall of 2013 at North Georgia

I think he just means a military junior college like New Mexico, Georgia, Valley Forge, Marion, etc. What major is she interested in? Gotta be really arcane if North Georgia has it but a big place like VA Tech doesn't!

Waitlisted for Fall of 2013 at North Georgia

I probably should've mentioned this yesterday, but.... The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets isn't all that far away and not as scary as the Citadel. (That's where Hokie comes from after all. VT is a great place to go to school.)

What about Georgia Military College for a year in case she needs to reapply to North Georgia next year?

    Flu on R-day

Are you doctor-diagnosed with the flu, or is it just a self-diagnosis? You may have a cold. People misdiagnose themselves with the flu all the time. I would think the flu would be much more difficult to deal with at R day and be of more concern to the institution than if you have a cold. If...

    Uniform Issue - The Citadel

"If" you participate? Are you going to be an evening student only? Are you a veteran? I think if you're not one of those two things (or a graduate student), you are in the Corps of Cadets.

    MOS/Unit Selection

Here's a PDF that not only explains the process a little but also tells about a relatively new incentive program by which you can get your branch/base/graduate school of choice by committing to an additional 3 years of service. https://www2.bc.edu/~sonmezt/Cadet-branch-matching.pdf

    MOS/Unit Selection

They call it branching. There used to be several good powerpoints and PDFs on the web about it. If you do some googling, you might find them. They used to have lots of branching info on the West Point website but they've hidden it in the intranet now and mere mortals can't access it.

You might find this interesting: Marching in Step: Masculinity, Citizenship, and The Citadel in Post-World War II America (Politics and Culture in the Twentieth-Century South) by Alexander Macaulay

Virginia Tech Cadet uniforms in alumni magazine

There's a nice two-page spread in "VT.mag," the Virginia Tech alumni magazine (Go Hokies!) about the cadet uniforms. http://issuu.com/vtmag/docs/vtmag_spring2012 Go to page 10.

    First Captain Selected for 2010-11

So they stick with the same First Captain for the whole year? I thought they switched at the end of the first semester. Maybe that's USNA.

Math, English and Science contacts for SOEs?

As a college professor, I always give students one of my "private" email addresses to use for things like this. I'm not real good about checking my school email account during the summer, so this way, if an employer wants a job reference, they could give them my private address which I check...
