    Dating at the academy

Yes, because “exceptional “ is purely expressed through standardized test scores and not derived at all from other talents, leadership, community contributions and commitment to serve their country etc 🙄 I definitely appreciate you doubling down on a derogatory comment about the females at the...

    Dating at the academy

As a mom of a daughter this is pretty offensive especially considering how exceptional USCGA cadets of all genders are … but I guess if you’d prefer your son pursue someone w less drive, ambition and brains I get it 🙄

    R-Day question

Yes hydrate and do yourself a favor and show up weaned off of caffeine…. You’ll thank yourself for sure!

    R-Day question

Honestly all the packing stuff is really straightforward and I know it feels like you’re not sending enough if you’ve sent another kid to college but they issue them anything they don’t have on the list. Also, remember they have to move rooms sometimes weekly so less is more during swab summer...

    Academic Support At USMMA?

Right the 37.5% isn’t of people who wanted it it’s of the entire class. Which is why some of the assertions of you’re more likely to get aviation from KP seems questionable. The number of aviation billets out of USNA and USAFA are statistically significant in comparison of the other academies…...

    CGAS school options

Obviously if he got a CGAS offer the academy will pick… but if he needed to self prep I CAN NOT say enough good things about the track and cross country coach at MMI. Such a good program! (Also he could potentially get some scholarships for self prep which is always a positive)

    CGAS school options

If given the CGAS option they have asked cadets a preference in the past, but like all things in academy/military life it may or may not be taken in to account. I think sports plays a factor at times, some of the newer prep programs I think are somewhat major specific too I believe. There’s a...

Coast Guard Academy supports transitioning (male to female) cadet

In the context of the academies I think the biggest concern is privacy and dignity issues in living quarters for all parties. I understand it is not uncommon for shower curtains etc to not be in place because they are removed for FRAWs, as well as some showers are group showers without privacy...

    Academic Support At USMMA?

I think it’s humorous that the “data point” that you claim matters most is one that’s not publicly available … I ll still contend all the publicly available data suggests usmma lags in a lot of important areas and unless you want to be a merchant marine go elsewhere.

    Regular Decision reevaluation

Another anecdotal thought for those who are going test optional… due to Covid schools are seeing students show up w more variation in their academic skills than ever before so if you have a solid test score I would think it is likely to help you more than hurt you… at a bare minimum it gives...

    Well, on to Plan B

USCGA has an affinity for reapplicants, so if he really wants it, he should reapply. Also, I don't know if he's considered self-prepping, but being that you are in NOLA, consider MMI in Alabama for next year. He may even be able to get a scholarship there. Our DD's plan B was MMI and reapplying...

    Academic Support At USMMA?

I really like data too! So thanks for some numbers. So 12 flight spots breaks into about 5% of grads will have that opportunity right out of the academy . Where as at USNA the average is 37.5% of billets are flight each year. USMA has roughly 10% aviation billets. Coast Guard has roughly 10% and...

    Interview Request

Our DD was interviewed as part of virtual AIM . It’s a great opportunity to have some face time and have someone from the academy add in another positive piece of data to your file! What a great opportunity

    Is anybody still waiting?

If you’re moved from EA to RA … keep your grades up, update your AO on your first semester grades… try to improve your PFE. Stay in the fight, think about plan B (will you reapply if declined?) but train like you’re reporting in June! Hang in there everyone, I know it’s rough!!
