    Girls State and SLE advice

    DD had to lead the school through it. She found a local American Legion Auxiliary leader who was thrilled to help her make it happen. DD reported that many girls had planned their campaigns (for major offices) and prepared materials in advance. She did not and still had a great time.

    My 2022 did not even apply to SLE. For my 2023, SLE was extremely helpful (personally) in comparing options. It helped clarify the choice to pursue an appointment.

    For my 2, 2022 and 2023 , we took updated screen shots of the portal and mark it up as the lights turn green. It’s a nice visual for the candidate’s motivation and the iphone makes it easy to instantly shared in our family group text.

    If you are appointed, your mom will be surrounded by an unbelievable community of West Point Moms. There is an amazing level of support for everything you can imagine would worry a mom - travel concerns, questions about special events, any medical bumps along the way, academic challenges, etc...
