No, everyone who is triple qualified gets onto the NWL. Based off WCS, the top 150 candidates on the NWL gets an appointment. After that the admission committee can chose candidates to fill in the class composition such as scholars, leaders, athletes, minority, etc regardless of their WCS.

To my knowledge, the WCS is 60% academic: 35% SAT score, 15% Class Rank, 10% GPA. It all depends on a person's district. It's usually rare for people with 3.2 GPA getting in but there is always outliers. They might be exceptional leaders or recruited athletes.

In my honest opinion, take the leadership class. You are a sophomore and taking already a lot of AP classes. Do well in your classes first and take AP Physics next year. It's about getting good grades while having a tough schedule. If you take another AP classes especially a tough subject like...

Although it doesn't have any effect on your WCS, it shows the admission committee about yourself: motive, passion, character, etc. I have a strong feeling my essays played a big role in my appointment but who knows.
