    headlamp or flashlight?

I brought a headlamp (I think it was around $20) for beast and found it really helpful. We were issued flashlights but it was nice to have both hands free at night. The little red light flip down cover is an absolute must though! :)

How should one prepare for a MOC interview, what are something's they ask for?!

Can't tell you what to say, because you are right - it's personal. An frankly for some of the tougher questions there is no correct answer. Sometimes it's not about whether you say "yes" or "no", but about your confidence in saying it. A nomination board wants to see you react well under...

How should one prepare for a MOC interview, what are something's they ask for?!

One of the tougher questions I got (on all three interviews!): What makes you more deserving of this nomination than all of the other very smart, athletic, outstanding candidates we interviewed today?

How can I improve my test scores while getting ready for fall semester of college?

I really enjoyed studying from the book SAT Vocabulary for Dummies by Suzee Vlk. IMHO, her writing style was amusing and very helpful. As a point of reference my Verbal score went from 670 to 800. Best of Luck!!

    Boots for Beast and Garrison

Do the boot letters also authorize the purchase of the low-quarters (durashocks?) from AAFES or only the boots? Thanks!

Previous Participants: What did you like about Summer Seminar?

I greatly enjoyed my experience at SS seminar two years ago. I think it is really like a very extended college visit or open house. For me, it gave me a tiny glimpse into military life, which was very important, because in my area of the country there are no military personnel, no bases, and no...

    Varsity sports walk-ons

What about competitive clubs, i.e. cycling, climbing, crew, rugby. Do they also have tryouts during Beast? How difficult is it to be accepted on the team, Esp if you don't have a great amount of experience? And lastly do those who do competitive club, not participate in company athletics or is...

USMA Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread

Not all, probably depends on your region. My portal (I received BFE) is still "no correspondence."

USMA Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread

Do you (or anyone else) know if when we accept in the portal, the "more information," paperwork, etc. is available to do online or if it gets mailed? And if it gets mailed, is it right after you accept or after a couple weeks/month? I just ask (not because I am soo terribly impatient :shake:)...

USMA Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread

So is there already a class of 2017 facebook group (for appointees)? I thought I read in here that there was, but maybe I am getting confused with the parents one. If there is, could someone link it (or tell me the exact name), because my facebook search is rendering nada. Thanks much!

    To early?

Very true. Based on my experience (2017 candidate) I would say that you could wait a bit if you don't have any specific questions but there is also no harm in sending am email. Just dont be discouraged if you don't get the response you want. I have sent me FFR three emails over the last two and...

    Women in Combat Branches

From my humble candidate point of view, this statement is spot on. As a female looking to enter the military, I don't see combat arms as the area where I personally would best serve, but I really like that it could be an option. One of the things I am most grateful for in my life is options and...
