I was appointed to USNA and completed my plebe (freshman) year there. I left not because of grades or conduct or physical (I had a 3.4 CQPR). I just figured out I didn't want to become an officer in the U.S. Navy. I did not, and do not, regret either my choice to attend for a year, or my decision to leave. I hated, really hated, a lot of things about that year - and I'm so grateful for it.
