    SMP vs Split Op

I've been on this forum a trillion times my apologies, but what's the difference between SMP and Split Op. I'm an incoming freshman at SF State, and talked to my cadre about going Split Op and he said that it's fine and won't interfere and said he'll even send me to a NG and AR recruiter when I...

    Path to becoming an officer?

If I do Army Rotc I plan on signing a GRFD contract, but I'm trying to compare my options right now and all the paths that are possible. I can't get a scholarship because I'm an incoming freshman at SFSU so I'll have to wait. I want to serve my country while still being able to attend college...

Okay I've posted a billion times on this site my apologies but I'm trying to weigh every option possible. I've been considering doing army ROTC at University of San Francisco and doing Split op in the national guard. But I also started considering joining the Air national guard, or the coast...

    Split OP and ROTC?

So I want to serve, and I plan on becoming an officer, hopefully if I can pass a DoDMERB exam because of my eyes but that's a whole different thread. So, I was curious could I go the route of Split op then contract with ROTC. I'm an incoming freshman. I would go to Basic at the end of my...

So then if I was within the standard does that mean I wouldn't be DQ'd? Thanks for the clarification.

    Strange wording "standard"? ROTC

So I have crappy eyes, like terrible...and I was just curious about the wording on the medical qualifications for like eyesight. It says if it's not a specific thing it's not "the standard", does it not being the standard mean it needs a waiver or it's unwaiverable in the case of eyesight?

    ROTC Medical Qualifications?

I also have another question, is LASIK waiverable?? I read somewhere that it only is if your eyes were up to specs, but then if they were what would be the point of lasik haha?

    ROTC Medical Qualifications?

So my biggest concern right now about joining ROTC is I'm trying to get a contract as soon as possible. I'm an incoming freshman and SF State, and the things that's worrying me is my eyesight. It's terrible...and the thing is DoDMERB is like 10x harder on medical conditions compared to meps. I'd...

    New Tattoo Policy and ROTC?

Yeah I totally feel all the older guys in this forum, I'm not a huge fan of visible tattoos which is why I decided I'm not gonna go through all the hassle of getting a tattoo that could make it harder to reach my career goal, I have one tattoo and it's on my thigh it's very small and I got it...

So which one is? I'm planning to get a tattoo right where my elbow joint is...
