Does a LOA help my chances of being medically waived?

Odds are you are In very good shape for a waiver. An LOA triggers an automatic review and you know USMA that will back you over the DODMERB’s standard. While there’s no guarantee, those aren’t egregious issues and it always helps to have your doctor write those AMI responses.

Why Does USAFA not list the weight requirements on the application site?

It’s technically not a school question, I t’s a DoDMERB question. That said, I’d just use USNA’s guidelines which come from DoDMERB, mainly because it’s a height/weight combo. https://www.usna.edu/Admissions/_files/documents/MedicalAppendix1.pdf

The hair situation- plebe summer 2019

Our DD will be a Plebe this summer. Our DS and several of his friends will be first session Detailers this summer. They had a brief that indicated that the former regs in this link for Plebe summer for females will be augmented to match Navy regs no longer requiring the chin length cut. They...

How will I be notified if I'm accepted?

Our DD received an appointment last week from NC-9 (Pittenger). Had a conditional LOA in January but is a recruited athlete. Do not despair! 6 from NC-9 were in our DS’s class in 2017. Just keep checking the portal or look for an email.

    DoDMERB Issues

Sounds identical to ours. DD received a conditional LOA pending waiver review. Portal stated “No Action Needed”. Dodmets portal was unchanged with no R codes. DD waited 5 weeks and finally decided to email admissions rep (in portal). They said that DoDMERB was waiting for a response. DD emailed...

    If I don't know, should I assume?

It’s my understanding that appointments this year are lagging by 20% YTD. Things will speed up soon. Our BGO said the latest offer that she’s seen is the day before I-day! All I can say is be patient. That’s one thing you must learn when you’re part of this environment.

USNA Class of 2023 Do-It-Yourself Appointment Thread

Part of the reason for the delay. Our DD had a nom from D-9 in December and a conditional LOA in January. There was 'no action needed' in her portal, and waited for 5 weeks with nothing. Finally reached out to admissions who said she should've gotten something from DoDMERB. So, finally...

    Swimming at USNA

I have a DS and DD that are swimmers at USNA. DD will be a Plebe next year, but DS is a youngster. The teams always need sprinters and your times are competitive. Email the coaches now and let them know you have started the process. They can guide you and if you're a strong candidate, could...

    Athletes arrive before I-Day?

Capt MJ and NavyHoops hit it spot on. Our DS was a swimmer and dropped off equipment and got to meet teammates for the first time. Also got to meet detailers that would be teammates. Parents also got to meet the coaches and fellow parents to start that bond. Ours was at the O-rep residence on...

    Does this mean she's in?

Our DD has the same. Basically you are in IF you get a medical waiver. Very good chance that your medical condition is likely waiverable, otherwise they wouldn’t waste their time on the LOA. Waiting for that appointment is still nerve racking! Congrats!

How bad are my chances hurt at USNA 2023?

You really ought to have a physician letter to accompany each and every occurrence. Not only that, you should have a specialist for each condition (neurological, orthopedic/rheumatologist and pulmonologist). They should state what your acute condition was, how it was treated, you are fully...

    Dual Enrollment Question

My comment has no bearing on admissions, only on what helps you when you are in. Kinnem is correct, you must test out to validate classes, nothing transfers. Working under the assumption you’re a rockstar academic and you have a great shot at appointment, the AP/college class gives you the...

    AMI R251.12 & R251.13

You need to approach DoDMERB requests at a level higher than they request. My advice is to see your physician anyway and if truthful and they are willing, have them write a letter stating that your DD is recovered and fully fit for duty. The pathology reports or coded entry for examination can...
