    NROTC Major & Getting Commissioned

Like I said, a scholarship would be nice, but I'm more concerned with getting a commission. I know the Navy mandates 85% be STEM majors, but is that for scholarships only?

    NROTC Major & Getting Commissioned

I think I could stomach two semesters of Calc and Calc based physics. It's not that I'm a lost cause in math, I'm average at worst. I just don't want to major in something I have no interest in. If two classes I'm not crazy about are essential to getting my dream job... I think I can manage...

    NROTC Major & Getting Commissioned

Most of the questions on here pertain to scholarships (ie 85% of scholarships go to tier 1 people), but what if my only goal is a job after college? I'm currently a freshman taking AROTC, looking to transfer next fall to an NROTC school (which one I have no idea) My question is, how much...

    Transferring to a SMC

Unfortunately, I am not in an NROTC unit this year (taking Army instead), as no schools in my area offer it.

    Transferring to a SMC

Well, of course I would go through the "first year experience" at any of the SMCs, my question is about what happens after. Would I stay with the c/o 2018 at Norwich? Or would I be "bumped up" to 2017 at some point (like at VT)?

    Transferring to a SMC

Thanks for the info on VMI and VT! Anyone have info on Norwich and The Citadel?

    Transferring to a SMC

I'm currently a freshman at a small university in Missouri (class of 2017), and I'm looking to transfer to a SMC next fall. I intend to commission into the Navy. Specifically, I'd like to know what transfer student life is like at the various SMCs. I've heard that transfers at VMI stay with...

NROTC for Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Years?

My first choice is USNA, but if I don't get in I was thinking about going to a local school (No NROTC in my area) for a year to reapply. But if I don't get in the second time, can I go to a college that has NROTC and get a commission with 3 years at that college? Would I have to double up on...

Are the Application and Nomination processes separate?

My BGO said people get Noms without completing their apps all the time, but I got an email from my senator saying I couldn't be considered unless I had my application completed (still need interview, BGO... is busy). Help?

A thread about a USNA 2017 hopeful, posted cause the website lady told him to.

Thanks for the advice guys... I like to mix things up a bit occasionally (as you may have guessed), but I'm still hangin' tough. I haven't tested myself lately, but I've been running pretty much nonstop since XC started (herp derp), so that's probably down in the low sixes by now. As for...

Is Missouri a particularly competitive/ underrepresented area for the canoe school?

I know this only applies for the nom, and the admissions board still has to decide I'm not a complete screw up be offered an appointment, but I also know that MO is no VA or MD in terms of the high number of highly qualified applicants (and is no ND or MT in terms of low number of applicants)...

Why are NASS Companies so different?

As in some companies were woken up to yellin' and screamin, hoopin and hollerin. But other companies were woken up by their detailers politely knocking on their doors. Also, some companies thought it would be hilarious if the zoomies out in colorado heard there every move, so they screamed...

A thread about a USNA 2017 hopeful, posted cause the website lady told him to.

Hey y'all! My name is machdude (don't ask) and I (as you may have guessed) am a candidate for the USNA Class of '17! Newbies posting threads is apparently LIKE TOTALLY AWESOME, so here goes. My mother is a few scales short of a mermaid, and my father is no king neptune (only military...

    Naval Career?

Hi, I have a very strong interest in a career in the US Navy (most likely SWO). In truth, nothing besides the navy really interests me. My first choice is, understandably, that little canoeing school in Annapolis. I attended NASS, and I was sure that the USNA was the only place I could be 100%...
