Army plans to cut 40,000 troops

There haven't been tankers in Europe for years. It doesn't matter how much they cut from USAREUR. The equipment is prepositioned for CONUS-based troops ala REFORGER.

    CAC Card for Contracted Cadets/Midshipmen

You know, you could just apologize for being rude to begin with instead of throwing up your hands and saying "Welp, real world. Let's talk about something else."

    CAC Card for Contracted Cadets/Midshipmen

Woops, looks like I tripped and dropped chapter 1.14 of this regulation on you. I even picked the one in Air Force-ese since her husband is retired AF. http://static.e-publishing.af.mil/production/1/af_a1/publication/afi36-3026v1_ip/afi_36-3026_ip.pdf Expired ID cards are confiscated for many...

    CAC Card for Contracted Cadets/Midshipmen

I'm a little late, but this is the wrong answer. Those gate guards are required to confiscate your ID and are doing you a solid by giving you a pass. You should probably get it replaced before you cross paths with a guard who doesn't care what rank happens to be next to SP on your card.

    SMP Active Duty Option?

No, there's nothing out of the ordinary with that. It's common for recruiters to work out of the school and work closely with the SMP kids during if that state lets them drill with the university. But his job begins and ends with your son enlisting and completing Basic and AIT. He is not an...

    SMP Active Duty Option?

So think of a recruiter as a salesman. In reality, your recruiter has nothing to do with determining who is or isn't a "great candidate for SMP." The recruiter is there to put men and women in the National Guard. They happen to work closely with university ROTC programs because there are plenty...

*Army* What happens to non-scholarship candidates? *Army*

You go active duty and get sent to Germany to drink beer, if I'm the case study. Kidding aside, if cost is an issue your son shouldn't let college choices get in his way if his goal is to be an Army officer. The cost of admission is one accredited Bachelors degree, regardless of origin. Unless...

URGENT: My son joining the army

The wars are nothing like they were ten years ago. Your son is more likely to get stabbed on the streets of Chicago or get killed in a car accident on his way to school than he is to get maimed or killed in combat. The Army isn't quite back to the garrison 90's, but it's a whole lot closer than...

    Nrotc Scholarship Denied

No, you do not have to enlist. You may choose to enlist because your Plan A failed and you lack the resiliency to get back on the horse, but you do not have to enlist. You are not the first person to go to school without a sugar daddy. There are other scholarships, there are student loans...

Internet police, post! All ribbing of Mabry aside, prepare a non-scholarship packet if you're eligible for it. It's good to have a backup plan.

MSVs and the FY16 OML Calculation

At the end of the day, the only promise in that contract is the opportunity to accept a commission if offered. The Army isn't failing to uphold anything.
