Should I/Where Should I include my research abstract?

Hi all, I recently submitted my research project (Rapid and Cost-Effective Paper-Plastic Microchip for Molecular Detection of Hepatitis C Virus for Use in Low and Middle Income Countries) to Regeneron STS and other competitions. My guidance counselor encouraged me to include my abstract in the...

How important is getting the application done by the first admission board meeting?

Hi all, As applications start to roll in, I had a question that was brought up in a discussion today. Obviously, the admissions board for USNA operates on a rolling basis and they start convening and reviewing applications the first week of September. My question is how much of an advantage does...

    Weird Recommendation Situation

ah ok, all that shows up in my candidate portal when I click on math teacher recommendation is a form that asks for their name and email. I did not understand that it was more of an evaluation rather than a recommendation, so thank you for the explanation.

    Weird Recommendation Situation

Hi all, As many of you know, USNA requires a letter of recommendation from your junior or senior math teacher. My school does not allow senior year teachers to write letters of recommendation, so my only option for a math rec is my current precalc teacher. His English is very broken, so when I...

    NASS Packing Question

side question, do I need to bring 2 pairs of sneakers as I am sure at least one pair will get wet and/or muddy?

Senior Year: Physics, AP Chem, or my select chorus

If you haven't taken a year of physics yet, you should definitely take physics, as USNA strongly recommends at least one year of physics, and if possible, AP Physics (preferably AP Physics C as it is the most rigorous), to be competitive for admission...

    4 week CFA training program?

Good afternoon, I am attending session 1 of NASS in about 4 weeks and I was wondering if anyone could give me some training tips for the CFA. I've been running every day for a week now, and plan to continue, but I am below average for sit-ups and pull-ups. I do plan to take the CFA at least one...

    Should I retake the SAT?

Hi all, I recently took my SAT for the second time, and my superscore is now a 1500 (760M 740E), although my highest single test score is a 1470 (740E 730M). Should I retake it considering the fact that I may need a color deficiency waiver for USNA and my nomination sources only consider one...

    District Competitiveness?

Does anyone know how competitive NY-06 is, especially for USNA and West Point? I heard at an admission brief that "traditionally Congresswoman Meng does not get a lot of nomination requests" however, I have seen someone on this forum say that NY-06 is a competitive district. Thanks!

    Appointed Stats?

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone who has been appointed (or rejected) to USNA or any SA would be willing to post some of their admission stats (SAT, GPA, Extracurriculars, DoDMERB Qualified/Waiver, CFA, Nomination Source, etc.) I know you can't tell everything about a person from a...

No email response from baseball coach?

It is a varsity team. No one on any sports team gets varsity letters. I am on Varsity baseball

No email response from baseball coach?

Thanks so much for the info; I don't think I have a chance at becoming team captain for baseball until spring of senior year, which by then would already be too late for Navy. I will try to become swim captain next year, which I can probably add to my packet before final submission. Also, thanks...

No email response from baseball coach?

@Humey That's strange; I thought coming from a big city like LA would mean baseball is kind of impersonal (I'm from NYC and I don't know any coaches outside of the ones I had.) Honestly, I don't think I'm D1 material, but I thought it might be worth a shot if it meant boosting my chances at...

No email response from baseball coach?

@Old Navy BGO - Not sure why. I go to a NYC Public School, and I don't think any NYC public schools give out varsity letters. The league is extremely competitive and scores are kept online at psal.org

No email response from baseball coach?

@Capt MJ Thank you, I also have one more question. My school does not give out varsity letters or report class rankings, which I know is an important factor. Will this hurt my application?
