    NROTC scholarship notification

I was notified by letter that I got shot down, but the portal hasn't changed at all since I applied. My guess is it's updated on a delayed cycle.

    (Preparing for) NROTC Physical Fitness

Here are some tips that helped me get to a perfect PFT (Marine, though): Pushups: Start each day with 3 max-effort sets. Work with pyramids, (i.e. do one, rest, 2, 3, etc... ) until you can't physically do more. Then go back down the pyramid. Situps: Pyramids, and practicing how many you can...

    NROTC MO option

I got a letter informing be I was turned down. This came as a shock to me and my recruiters, seeing as I had a 2260 SAT/35 ACT/300 PFT and good grades, several leadership spots in extra-curricular stuff, etc. I'm going to see if I can get into the local unit as a non-scholarship student; we'll...

    NROTC Marine Option 2nd board

Congratulations! Hearing that it can be done gives me a lot of hope (but also makes me even more nervous!)

    NROTC Marine Option 2nd board

Congratulations. I have a pool function tonight where I'll see recruiters and the interviewing officer in person, so I've got my fingers crossed.

When is the best time to submit my application for the NROTC Scholarship?

In my case, the PFT was conducted first, and the interview about a week later. For Marine-Option applications, the PFT is important (according to my recruiters)- if you're within striking distance of a perfect 300, do anything in your power to get it. In my case, I think the added confidence...

    HSSP Presentation

I think it's a school-by-school thing. My school asks all seniors who will be serving to stand and be recognized prior to playing the National Anthem, but I know my cousin's in CA doesn't do anything of the kind.

pants116- If you're going for Marine-Option, I haven't heard anything and I don't think anyone else has. The officer I interviewed with said he hoped to have "good news for [me] by the end of March", but I don't know if that's a deadline of some sort or just his best guess. Good luck- I know the...

Could wearing arch supporters in your shoes get you disqualified from ROTC?

I have, by most accounts, flat feet, but it wasn't an issue at MEPS (for the Marine Corps) in the physical. The doctor just asked me if I had pain or difficulty running, I said no, and there were no problems. I don't wear inserts, though, but from what I've seen they're not an issue unless...

Navy or Marine option? It seems like only Navy option folks have heard yet.

Well, it looks like good news from the Navy Option folks. No news yet for Marine-Options as far as I know (personally, I haven't recieved word yet.)

Darn. Those are my big selling points. Still, good to know that there's an end date to the wait.

You're pretty much on-target. Basically, it's just an extensive group workout with some lessons thrown in. No one does the PFT, though; usually everyone just runs the IST and then the real workout starts.

The 22nd, but I'm pretty sure the dates are set per recruiting station, so one in your area might be different.

I haven't seen anything change, but we're having a pool function shortly, and my recruiter has hinted that he might have some news for me then. Maybe word will start trickling out?
