Army-Navy game: White Power hand symbol appears to be used during pregame broadcast

I am fairly certain that most of those cadets (not sure about the midshipman) that were present at the ESPN College Game Day broadcast were Plebes that were “tasked” with being there. At least that is how it went last year when my son was there. Lots of standing around and waiting. 18 year olds...

    Waiver advice

Same thing with my son. You MUST follow-up...even if you think you are just following their orders to sit tight and wait. The clock is ticking.

    Appointments

My advice on waiting for that waiver is to contact your admissions rep once a week to check on the status and see if there is anything else that needs to be done. Sometimes things slip through the cracks and you think you are just following orders to sit tight and wait... “decision will be made...

    Problems with (extremely) worried parent

I am not sure about the answer to your question. I can say that what helped us as parents was to communicate with other parents in our town who had kids at West Point. We had many conversations with them about the culture there, academics, military training, etc. Also, my husband has business...

    Problems with (extremely) worried parent

My son is currently at West Point. We are not from a military family. When he decided his sophomore year that he was going to pursue admission his Dad and I were stunned and extremely nervous. Now that he is there we are “all in”. I take heart knowing that he will spend 4 years learning how to...

Food Allergy USMA - How to be proactive

You are welcome! But as I said, medical requests can be slow from DoDMERB and the academies themselves. Best to get this going on your own. Do not wait for them to ask you to do it because that could take months and then you might run out of time on the back end.

Food Allergy USMA - How to be proactive

You will most likely need to undergo an oral food challenge of said nut. If you can find an allergist that is former military to administer the test that is helpful. Do not wait to pursue this. It can take a long time to get through the medical process.

Proactive testing for allergy to a medicine as a baby?

I guess my point is they will ask for the information in the questionnaire. As soon as you say he has a history of reaction to a drug it will trigger a remedial, etc. If it can be cleared up prior then it makes sense to do it. If he doesn’t pass a challenge then the facts are the facts and they...

Proactive testing for allergy to a medicine as a baby?

My son also had a reaction to penicillin as a 2-year old. Before he went through DoDMERB last year I had his allergist do an oral challenge and he passed it. Some large percentage of the population (90% or so) are not actually allergic even though they may have reacted to it as a child. He...

Question about USMA deadline and complete application

What does your DoDMerb portal show? If the other academies show as “qualified” shouldn’t a status show for USMA? I think I would be concerned if no green check is showing up under the Medical section at this point.

    Waiver

Thank you so much for your reply. It sounds as if the only reason one would contact DoDMERB after a waiver has been requested is to see if any additional information has been requested by the authority and just hasn’t made its way to the candidate yet? The DoDMERB tech was very helpful during...

    Waiver

If a candidate has been informed by SA(s) that a waiver has been requested for him/her, is there any reason to be contacting DoDMERB to check on the status of the waiver request? There appears to be conflicting information regarding this. The impression given is that at this point it is out of...

    LOA

Congrats to those who have received LOA or LOE! If I might ask, how do the letters read?
