    FY24 Branch Commandant Ratings AROTC

DS got MP for EOD which is his #1 choice. Looks like MP is not as sure of a thing this year less slots than the #of MPs. Last year they had 72 MPs and 74 slots. Anyone know how EOD works - it looks like they get either EN, Chem, or OR and then assigned to EOD?

How much does school preference effect scholarship chances

My DS was in a similar situation a couple of years ago. He applied second board (AROTC) and we looked at several of the schools you listed. He ended up at a private school in Texas with a 3 year scholarship. The first year was expensive, although we did get some school aid. Just be prepared...

    Enrollment Forms

Yup, there will be paperwork! I’d advise to have him fill it out promptly. DS received a 3 year AD scholarship last year that will be activated this year (he contracts Monday!). He had to fill out lots of paperwork. I told him that it is good practice for when he gets to the Army 😁.

    List of Colleges

@dadinnc offers good advice here. For AROTC I recommend just listing them in his actual order of preference. DS did this and was offered 3 year to #1,2, and 4. #1 and 2 were high price private schools, #3 was high priced out of state (extremely popular), and #4 was lower priced out of state...

    Army ROTC AD?

For 2020, 96.5% of those competing for active duty (Army ROTC) got active duty. Scholarship doesn’t make any difference.

    Army ROTC 3rd Board Results...

DS chose TCU. We visited all 3 of those schools and all are great choices. TCU will be in person next year. Their ROTC classes and training were in person all year, and I expect that will be the same next year. TCU has amazing school spirit and sense of community and Fort Worth is a great...

    3 year offer

Isn’t that what the #7 school is offering? Yes, he went and visited with ROO and expressed interest (it was his #1 school on the national scholarship application). I’m sure the ability to make these offers varies by school. You could always have DD ask the ROOs at the higher ranked schools...

    3 year offer

His best friend did. DS received National scholarship.

    3 year offer

Nothing wrong with getting additional info and weighing options. If this was #7 on the list, that means giving up on those other 6 schools your DD wanted to attend above #7. Keep in mind that even if she doesn’t get the national scholarship, many cadets get a campus based 3 year. My son got...

Changing Preferred Schools on AROTC Scholarship

I recommend just listing them in your true order of preference. My DS received a scholarship offer to his #1, #2, and #4. He had gone back and forth, moving his #3 and #4 choices. In the end it didn’t matter. Interestingly, his #1 and 2 were slight reach schools, #3 was a match...

Choosing 7 and waiting for a later board

For AROTC you can always request a transfer of the scholarship if you don’t get into any of the schools the scholarship is awarded for. I bet they do this because otherwise the top candidates would take up so many slots it would have a downstream impact on the candidates lower on the list...

    ROTC PFA Requirements

That is not the table for the scholarship scoring. That is for the 2 minute test when you are on ROTC. Here is the table you are looking for. Also, while it is good to know the minimums, always shoot for the max. Knowing the max is helpful so you can save energy for the other events. Good...

    Ranking colleges

This. And, no, college admissions and the National ROTC scholarships are separate processes - college admissions won’t see how you ranked them for the ROTC scholarships.

    Deferring a 3year AROTC scholarship?

Good advice above. DS is a 3 year also and all of his classes are online except AROTC. PT is in person as are the outdoor labs. They conducted their combat water survival training last week. ROTC is one of the highlights of his experience so far. See if she can find ways to connect with...

Is AROTC cutting back on 4-year scholarships?

University of north Georgia’s website says for AROTC national scholarship 2018-2019 about 25% were 4 year and 75% were 3 year. Squares with the ratio at my DSs school. I think around 5 four year and 15 or so 3 year. Agree that kids and parents should think about this when picking schools. DS...
