In our experience of applying and then reapplying, every communication was through portal. No actual TWE or BFE in the mail.

Good for you Eagle Legion! My DS got in on his 2nd attempt but one of his buddies (also a self prep at MMI) didn’t get in until his 3rd attempt. Now they’re both at the academy! I promise the long run won’t feel as long as it seems for you right now. Very best to you!

Just adding that when our DS first applied for the class of 2020, he didn’t get his TWE until mid-April. Second year he was applying as a Self-Prep from MMI and again.....Mid-April (15th!) but this time....appointment!! The first year was agonizing, but second year just as much bc we watched...

Good idea, a close friend of our DS got a concussion during BCT , and had to leave. He is coming back with the Class of 2022, but yes, it’s still a little ways to go until the official starting line ! Congratulations on the appointment!

Not sure what’s on the packing list but when our DS attended, his best purchase was a comfortable blanket. He had a top bunk and slept on top of the bedding due to maintaining the correct bedding measurements/requirements. The air conditioning is always going and even though it’s hot outside...

If you’re planning to attend the swearing in ceremony the following morning, take YOUR OWN pair of binoculars ! I was first row at the chapel wall, immediately in front of our DS squadron, and couldn’t find him. My kind neighbor allowed me a few looks through theirs, but it’s a sea of camo...

At MMI, cadets participate in AFROTC weekly with other cadets at University of Alabama. MMI is a junior college, so cadets in SAP gain 36 college credits, there is also a Flight training program, cadets can earn their pilots license at a very inexpensive rate.

If the TWE comes this year, it is not the end of a dream to attend USAFA. That was our thought first time through this process. In years of prep, researching, Academy visits, summer seminar, ALO, MOC, no one ever, ever mentioned or suggested reapplying or even that applicants even reapplied...

Yes, self-prepped after the first TWE, in April 2016. Accepted April 15, 2017. A lot of grueling days, weeks and months just to get to the starting line. The very best to you all!

I know last year Coast Guard self preps were 5 for 5!

First time through the process heard nothing from anyone...MOC, admissions, ALO until rejection came around April 17. Second time through same crickets until April 15 when portal updated with appointment.
