You'll need to maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA in order for the AFA just to consider you for a medical slot. Those typically chosen are WAY above that. Fall below a 3.25 and you can kiss the consideration for a medical slot goodbye.
DD was a recruited athlete. The coach called Friday the 13th to say she received her appointment. She went for her MOC interview on Saturday the
14th. On Monday the 15th, the MOC called to say she had a nomination :thumb:
My daughter struggled last year also. I don't know how many she took during the entire year but she didn't pass too many. She said something had to give and the knowledge tests were it. Hope springs eternal though as she did make the Superintendant's List last semester.

You will feel uncomfortable, at first – way out of your comfort zone. You may even think that you’ve made an enormous mistake in deciding to attend the Air Force Academy. Remember there are others there just like you. However, in the very near future, there will come...
OMG I remember my daughter telling me about the run. No amount of preparation can ready you for that especially if you have been training at sea level. Like Hornet, she spent the last 1/4 mile hacking and puked her guts out (in a garbage can luckily) when it was over...
Basics cannot have a printer and/or monitor until Parents Weekend and then, at the discretion of thier squadron.
You do not need to bring anything with you to BCT except for the clothes on your back and what ever you need in one small backpack. You will be issued everything else.
Good...
Love it DK "Embrace the suck"...
Anyway, a note that running will be at altitude and nothing can prepare you for that especially if you live at sea level. DD puked her guts out on the first timed run which was during the first week of BCT. Just remember you are not the only one going thru it...
Try VRBO.com. We rented a house last year for our first parents weekend. It was awesome. Nothing like having all the conveniences of home right at your finger tips. Less expensive than a hotel. We already have the house rented for PW this year.
Air Gardens
The east quarter of the Terrazzo, known as the "Air Gardens," is a 700-foot-long (210 m) space with an ordered geometry of lighted pools, lowered grass sections and maze-like walkways. You walk right by it going to Mitch's.
I agress 100% with Mom, you don't have to rush. There is plenty of time to get everything together. Get the DoDMERB stuff rolling and the MOC nomination paper work ready to go by August. You'll be fine.
Good luck.
There are no "little extras" during BCT and they are at the discretion of your squadron after A-Day. Be advised, the little extras don't amount to much when you are a doolie.
Good luck :thumb:

Do not take anything but what is on the checklist (even less than what is on the checklist). Take one backpack that includes all your necessary paperwork. That's it if you are male. The only exception is if you are female include undergarments/supplies in the backpack. You will be issued...
As a doolie parent I can personally attest to Stealth's word of wisdom. My second apron string was cut before Xmas. It wasn't easy but so far the system hasn't let my daughter down. In fact, it has been everything she (and I) expected it to be and so much more.
Good luck to your son...
