From personal experience if your academics are elite, admissions will offer a LOA before even looking at your leadership or athletics.

I thought it would make more sense for the MOC to give another one of the 6 candidates a principal nom so that the academy would appoint two students from that district: your son with the LOA and the kid with the principal nom (because the MOC would want to increase representation of their own...

If I remember correctly, your son had an LOA? It's interesting to see how a MOC would give the principal nom to someone who already has an LOA. Wouldn't they want more of their candidates to receive appointments to the service academies?

What does it look like if you have a nomination in the USMA portal? I see that I have a nomination but it looks like I got TWO nominations for USMA from the SAME source.

I guess that makes sense! Also Californians are pretty competitive; I'm guessing SAT scores average around 1500 for the academies.

Seems like they are trying to avoid double nominating people. Thankfully I was chosen for Butler's interview! I can't imagine getting down to San Diego (I live in NorCal).

It actually seems that you scored below average on basketball throw, pull-ups, and mile-run. Maybe work on those events. :) But not sure why you failed, they are just slightly below average.

No, not yet. It would be convenient if nominations were given out without an interview, just based on the application. :)

It's been 6 weeks since my last exam and I haven't seen any updates in https://dodmerb.tricare.osd.mil/ I've emailed DoDMERB but no response. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Did anyone get two interviews on Dec. 2nd? :( I think I'll have to cancel one.
