My son got 1500 and 35, took SAT twice and ACT once, no super score on SAT because 1st go was best and announced, “good enough, I’m not taking those tests ever again”. 😂 He graduates from USAFA in May.
I would ask the FVE team if there are other dates available. I know they do several. It’s a wonderful opportunity and they don’t have them out generously. If he date is firm, reach out to the congressman’s office and explain. They want to nominate candidates that the academies really want.
Jump at the chance. You’ll spend a few nights in the dorms with cadets, go to class, eat in Mitch’s and get some tours. My son also got to attend the football game with cadets. His FVE cemented his decision! He’s currently a Firstie.
Job drops 9/22. Each squadron does their own event. In the past I’ve seen it live streamed and some have done DH. Relay races events, like pie eating and obstacles. Each squadron will come up with their own event and how they share.
Our cadet told us that the jobs list is sent to leadership at USAFA who then go through them based on their personal experience and knowledge of the cadets. If cadets are reccomend for jobs leaders know is the wrong job for the strengths of the cadet, they edit and suggest other jobs: this is...
Congratulations!! We opted to go to the Springs 3 days before I-day as a mini family vacation. It was also 2020 and everyone had been cooped up for months. DS met with some other future cadets and went running a few times. It was nice to explore the town and have time together. Some opt to go...
They have fun. Of course Doolie year is pretty restricted. They take the moving carts and wind surf the terrazzo late at night on windy nights. They play pranks and move the Superintends office furniture to the top of eagles peak with a telescope in his office aimed there. They’ve done slip n...
My C2C started in Calc 3 doolie year 😳. We were worried, it was fine. There are two thought processes; One that wants the easier class and grade and one that wants to take more degree courses / a minor and quicker to the advanced courses. My cadet had a lot more options sooner.
My dd was a recruited D1 softball player (not my SA USAFA). In May of her senior year she hit a gopher hole in the outfield and tore her ACL. It cost her scholarships and a year of rehab.
Like others have said, and since you’re not a recruited athlete, I would not risk it. There are far safer...
Ffor FVE the candidates travel on their own to USAFA. There is no parent component from my experience. My son attended FVE and is currently a C2C and helping with FVE this month.
Congrats!!! Enjoy your senior year, time with family and friends. Keep up with workouts and running. In addition to the passport, get the real ID and get your wisdom teeth out.
You’ll get a big packet this spring of things to do. If you’re planning on the family coming with you to I day? Book...
