    AFROTC Orientation for parents

About to send my third ROTC kid to school- Army and Air Force. Have never heard of parent orientation.

    AROTC Advanced Camp 2023

Last year, I took my son and 3 of his buddies out to lunch. We went to the movies (I think they all fell asleep for some of it), dropped friends off, went back to the hotel and my son took a nap. Graduation the next day. It was a great experience.

My MSII heard it was the written test, not the practical.

    AFROTC Experience

Both my husband and I did AROTC. Kids #1 & 2 are AROTC. Kid #3 is starting SFROTC. We discouraged our kids from seeking out ROTC roommates. It is good to have different groups of friends, and Freshman year is where a lot of those groups are formed. Just my opinion- and has worked out well for my...

    Questions about FA BOLC/Fort Sill

My son is graduating and has his BOLC date (MI), but no follow-on assignment info. He said his classmates, other than the Transportation folks, don’t have that info yet, either.

Most open curriculum schools with ROTC?

AROTC for Brown is at Providence. AFROTC is at WPI- or was as of 2 years ago. I am not sure about NROTC.

    Weird Camo kid

2 kids in ROTC. 2nd kid had a very challenging Freshman year roommate situation. Good news is by Sophomore year, kids can pick roommates and, hopefully, avoid problems. There are very few ROTC cadets at her school- she is at a cross-town campus. I agree that it is good to be friends with...

    Missing classes

Both of my AROTC kids miss class for FTXs. One of my kids misses an academic class every week for ROTC class. That was not the case for me, nor my husband when we were in ROTC. The one who misses class is in a cross town program. That might be the difference. But yes- they all seem to miss class...

    School Uniform to ROTC interview?

As a follow-up: DD wore school uniform to ROTC interviews. Was awarded NROTC, SFROTC and AFROTC scholarships. She came from school to interview and went straight back to school after. It might be interviewer dependent, but school uniform did not seem to have a negative impact.

    SMP and USUHS

That’s what I understood as well. Just clarifying from the comment above. USUHS is AD time. It is my understanding that if you want to have the best chance of receiving an ED for medical school, that you apply to USUHS as soon as you are eligible.

    School Uniform to ROTC interview?

My daughter wore her school uniform. Awarded a 4-year Navy ROTC scholarship. Waiting on results from AF/Space Force. Agree with the former posters- they are coming/going from school.
