    Gradschool after KP

My DS ran into a 2023 grad at Tulane University, who is pursuing a law degree under one of those waivers.

    KP MIDN FINANCES

When my DS was at sea, he was paid approximately $550 biweekly during sea year training. While some of his earnings got spent in international ports, some made it back for expenses at school.

Container Ship Strikes Scott Key Bridge in MD

Awful news to wake up to this morning. Checking out vessel finder you can see many cargo ships on either side of the collapsed bridge now backing up.

No the convocation is not for external guests. Plan on not seeing your mid until parents weekend and be prepared for some big changes!

Question for current parents of midshipman

No nothing that easy ☺️ Come to think of it it’s currently exam week and then spring break is next week so you probably want to try to call them tomorrow and not delay. I imagine they’ll have reduced hours during spring break with a lot of midshipmen off-campus.

Question for current parents of midshipman

During Covid they did a flat rate $16 per box. They are very helpful. You can tell them what you’re looking for and I had emailed pictures of the merchandise. Phone number is 516. 726.6177. They should have somewhat standard hours weekdays if you try calling them tomorrow morning. A lot of the...

Question's and answers that might help

My DS also got accepted to both USCGA and USMMA. He considered his career options upon graduation and the mission of each organization. He wanted to study engineering and he could do that at both schools but the most appealing was the choices he could make after graduation at KP. He has...

Admissions Deadline March 1 for the Class of 2028? Question about Secretary of Transportation Appointments.

Has your daughter exhausted all senator and congressional nominations in your state? Often times other congress members don’t use all their nominations and therefore you may be able to pick one up from one not in your district. Have had several friends kids who did that and even late in process.

    Marriage waiver?

I seem to recall a midshipman on the Rowing team that got married between second-class and first-class years. Don’t know much other details. But she just came right back to school to finish her senior year with wedding photos in her Facebook profile.

    Second Guessing USMMA

Highly recommend find a local alumni chapter and reach out. They are very welcoming of candidates and often have networking events. We would go and my DS spoke to many alumni of all class years and learn about so many different job options. He went in with one idea of maybe working on cruise...

    Academic Support At USMMA?

Do what you can now to establish solid studying skills. It’s too late to learn when you get there next summer. Many of the mids come in were top of their classes back home and maybe a lot came very naturally to them. But as others said the pace is fast, you can find yourself in a hole and not...

Yes it’s the tower on campus. Although my DS says when he graduates he is going back to AT&T.

    USMMA vs USNA

My DS was considering all 3 sea going academies but at end, USMMA was first choice. Some of the reasons he preferred it was smaller school size, the full year of at sea training, the military and commercial options upon graduation and getting Coast Guard license at graduation. He always wanted...
