I wouldn't worry about it. My DS (2016) also received a C in AP Calc. He has done extremely well in all of his math classes so far at West Point.

That is the watch we got for our DS last year before he went to beast (G9300 solar). He loved it and it is still going strong. He never said that there was a problem with the compass feature not being allowed.
