SAT/ACT scores are but a fraction of the equation! My son's scores were 1270 SAT, 28 ACT. He was awarded a NROTC scholarship on the first board. Don't focus solely on bettering standardized tests, improve the whole candidate. My son's standardized tests may not have been super, but what he...
If you're willing to spend...there's a company called GoRuck that specializes in exercise/everyday use rucks. They also sell plates and sand bags. I personally don't own one, but have seen one in person, and they do look well made.
My son is an incoming freshman to the VMI NROTC Unit. We've heard nothing from the unit in regards to NSI being canceled. I've also been in contact with other incoming freshman parents who have yet to hear from the unit.

VMI is slated to attend NSI Cycle 2. July 1-21. The unit has already begun collecting required forms to make travel arrangements. I'm sure they'll provide them to you in the very near future. Congrats to your son! My son will also be attending VMI with NROTC scholarship.
Great Info! I'm still a bit puzzled though as my DS's GPA, test scores etc., all fall above the minimum requirements to compete for a scholarship, but was eliminated in December from future boards.
