I’d venture to say that service academies are better than the so-called “elites” in a variety of ways, but Hope probably does have a much better chance with them. Service academy cadets have a monopoly on character.

My DS played no sports but was appointed to USMA. Did two extracurricular activities, studied abroad, 4.0+ gpa, average ACT or SAT.

Sounds like a good candidate to me. Just keep doing your best academically to get as high as you can.

It’s different for everyone. This is, as you well know, a choice they have to make. There is no wrong answer. Remember also, you may have given someone else an opportunity to attend. My DS was not selected by USAFA, but accepted his USMA appointment. His brother started USMA last year...

That seems so unfair. Head up, high, chest out, far! Keep moving.

Go to West Point! There is nothing like it in the world. You will have an experience that you cannot duplicate and one that you don’t usually get multiple shots at. All the best to you.
